A decent result. Cherry Bloom did indeed win, Hell Bent was not at ease prior to the race, was playing up down at the stalls and was eased off, that bet was down before the off even. Great Max ran well in 3rd and I've yet to see the Illaarab run, but he didn't win. A 9/1 winner kept me in profit for the day.
I was toying with Kings Lynn at 12/1 ante-post for the Wokingham. Glad I didn't play. He was too short to bet today, so didn't back anything. Rohaan started out off 55 in handicaps and has won this off 112 today. That's an amazing progession. In the next race I had a token reverse forecast on the two Foxes. Foxes Tales did the business to improve an already excellent meeting for Balding but Fantastic Fox was down his bolt hole today in another disappointment for the Varian stable. In the last I felt Stag Horn was a player at this mammoth trip for Archie Watson. He doesn't have Golden Horn's pace or class but looked the sort for extreme trips. 6.10 Ascot Stag Horn 9/2
My best day of the week (which wasn't too difficult either, really).Winners at 7/2 and 9/1 and a placed at 9/1. I was expecting more from Albaflora but...
Stag Horn had a go from the front but the cavalry were coming and swept by. The Hughes horse looked to have timed it well, looking to be travelling well and the jockey must have thought he was going to deny the 40/1 odds but Stratum came there travelling even better and once again a Mullins horse dominates a staying race. Weld's Falcon Eight could not even manage to meet his name in 9th place and 7/4 really was a terrible price. Dermpt Weld has had a very low key season thus far. Mind you, haven't we all.
