    Sterling out Grealish in.

Similar to Spurs where I often thought Son was the better player, he's 27 and still waiting for a good midfield supply?

Poor right through the team, they had a few decent chances in our box, midfield something needs changing, not much going forward. Let’s hope it’s the kick up the backside we need because with the talent England have we should be doing much much better than that. Very lack lustre through out, no urgency. We certainly don’t look like a team going to win this tournament unless something changes. Let’s not forget we was playing Scotland?

This should be the team against the Czechs but it won't be.

The same Raheem who scored the winner vs Croatia and had they correctly used VAR today, would have won us a penalty? As you say, he's out of form but even then is capable of scoring/creating.
Can I ask are you a Man Utd fan by any chance? I remember watching the World Cup game vs Sweden in 2018 in a pub in Eccles, which I didnt know was in the heart of Manchester Utd territory. Raheem was absolutely slaughtered throughout the game, and yet he was creating havoc throughout.

He scored against Croatia but was poor for most of that game. And that wasn't a penalty. Are you a Man City fan? I'm a Hull City and England fan and a blind man could tell you Sterling was the worse player for England tonight.

Neither dull, unimaginatively managed, passionless 11 are going anywhere near the finals.

Against Croatia, Sterling was equally as profligate as he was today. I was baffled by his selection today. Some of his misplaced passes/shots v Croatia might have landed in a different postcode.

I'm not saying Kane is ****, he's a very good PL striker, just not England Captain material or the best striker in the world some rate him as, it's frustrating how he drops deap and wide, I'd like him to poach more in the box like Lineker did, he's not above criticism.

I wouldn’t be putting Kane in the starting 11 against the Czechs. I thought he looked unfit and abject today, though you could just about say that about any of them. Why have the option of 5 subs and only use 2?

I'll settle for playing badly but scoring the only goal every time, It's a football tournament not Football Manager.
Robbo stood on his foot!! How is that not contact under the current rules? Sterling did go looking for it which made the ref's mind up. No idea how it didnt go to VAR, and then I'm not sure how they couldnt give it. It would have been nailed on in our version, may be they have a different criteria for the Euros? Could easily have been looking at England won 2, goals 2, Sterling scored 1, Sterling Assists 1, Sterling played well 0. Can't wait til he finds some form.
BTW I despise Man City, more so than Man Utd. I'm not particularly a Sterling fan. That was why I found the pub experience so ridiculously funny. Your posts reminded me of it. I was drunkenly talking to a couple of Man U fans (I didn't know anyone in the pub but they seemed less threatening than most the other meatheads), repeatedly asking in my John Cleese voice. 'but what has Raheem Sterling ever done for England?' Your disproportionate hate of him reminded me of that.
BTW I may be half deaf but aint blind, and there were several other candidates who were equally poor, as you can see from other posts on here.

No god please no!!! What us the obsession with having two holding midfielders? Its almost as if the nation has been conditioned to accept that this has to be the way. 1 shielding player at most with two ball players. We need to dictate the pace of the game. Today rice and Phillips sat really deep while mount was walkabout most of the time in a deep left midfield position so he could cut back in on his right and try hollywood passes ala his massively overrated mentor.

I don't hate him. I just think he's played **** and we have better players in his position. Relax.

Playing two holding midfielders against the second worst team in the competition and mount played most of the game on the left absolutely no outlet through the middle. Kane is half a yard off the pace and looks slow. Sterling was poor in the last game apart from his goal and worse today. Foden was quiet. And were still shaky as **** at the back.

    Pickford
    Shaw Maguire stones walker
    Henderson/bellingham
    Foden grealish
    Sancho. Kane(last chance) rashford

Why can't we play a team set up to dictate the play and use the quality we have in midfield? We have one of yhe most talented squads in the tournament yet we set up to nullify teams who aren't on our level. I don't get it. Is it the fact that we have expectations again so we revert to type? Was full of optimism before the start of this tournament but that performance and an average one against a poor croatia team has well and truly dampened my expectations.

I think Southgate's idea of two more defensive minded midfielders is because we do have so much exciting talent up front, so let them go for it and take some responsibility off them. We don't have a great defence, so there must be a reason we aren't conceding many goals. I'm not Henderson's greatest fan but he provided that balance alongside Rice. Probably more defensive minded than the players most fans would want to see in there but very capable of providing support to attack etc. Unfortunately he's been awful/injured this season and I don't think we've found anyone who can play that role. So it's one or the other and Gareth has gone safety first. I think it's absolutely fine to be cautious and try to avoid defeat in the group stages, particularly when far more teams qualify for the knockout stages than don't (we have probably done enough with 4 points already). Unfortunately I don't think that approach will take us much further and I'm not sure he'll change it (nor is Henderson likely to get fit/in form).

i do, mostly cause i'm a nerd and watch a lot of bundesliga
he has 3 seasons in a row of 20 g+a in german football
he also has 7 goals and 6 assists in 21 champions league games
he has 41 assists and 37 goals in 3 seasons in just the bundesliga
he also got 6 goals this season in the german fa cup as they won it
and hes still only 21, he's a phenom, yet doesn't even get single app in 2 games at the euros? baffling

england must have the best attack in the tournament, must have scored 5-6 goals in two games

dortmund and european fans are laughing, all the other dortmund players having good tournament so far, yet sancho, arguably dortmunds best player and one of the best wingers in world football and he can't get a game for this england side <laugh> <laugh>
guess he doesn't play for aston villa <laugh>
