9 goals scored in 11 games? This is not a criticism, just my opinion that as a team we need to convert more chances. We do seem to be creating plenty of chances but not converting enough.
Totally agree, our lack of goals has cost us dearly, I still think we need some more fire power plus some more mid-field supply. Hopefully that will be provided when Cameron Stewart returns.
Yes of course concerned about the lack of goals. However, one begins to get the feeling that this could be Citys year. Not seen one game but all reports point to a team that is on the rise. It bodes well to hear that with each game City continue to improve and are playing some attractive attacking stuff backed up by a stiff defense that is difficult to score against. Thought Pusic would get a start again. Anyone know how he played?
Our lack of goals is a worry, it would be foolish to say otherwise. But i'm sure we're doing all we can to address this and our continued creativity in front of goal will hopefully involve giving someone a thrashing very soon. The goals will come.
It's weird because unlike last season we are creating chances and playing some really nice football. For some reason it just won't go in often enough. It'd help if we could get more goals from different sources. People talk about the strikers but we've actually only scored from attackers in open play. It'd help if we could get the odd header from a set piece, a Cairney free kick or even just a penalty. At the moment it is solely down to the attack to break the opposition defence down and we have no other goal threats.
WE NEED A BIG, QUALITY, STRONG, MOBILE, GOOD WITH HIS BACK TO GOAL, GOOD IN THE AIR MOTHERPHUCKING CENTRFORWARD!!!!!!! Sorry to shout!!
Pusic had a decent enough game, although we were lacking width for most of the game and he was one of the main culprits playing too narrow.
look at it this way.. 6th after "only" scoring 9 goals in 11 games is just about as well as we could be doing.. we're doing the minimum and succeeding.. just wait til someone gets battered 4-0..
It'd be great if we could fill our boots against Watford next week, but I just don't think we have the players to do anything other than grind out results as a defensively-minded team. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just a bit frustrating sometimes!
Most other teams in and around the top 6 have scored at least twice as many. Our defence looks good though!
I agree with you completely. It just seems as though on here you are being disloyal if you comment that Mclean isnt good enough and does not score goals. Fuk knows why.
Stewart's return could potentially add to our goals scored column, from when he arrived until he got injured we only drew a blank twice. The type of service he was giving Simpson over the last festive period improved Simpson's cutting edge dramatically.
Completely agree with both of you but how much do them strikers cost...... Ismael Miller cost 2M and he is bloody useless..... Maynard has had 9M put on his head, we can't compete with them finances though, people just don't get that.
OLM quoted this on another thread: Ross McCormack £350k Ricky Lambert £1m Charlie Austin £1.5m Kevin Phillipps Free Steve Davies £500k Ashley Barnes - Naff all. add Le fonfre who was worth a punt for 300-350k ? All im saying is we have made a mistake, lets correct it quickly to improve our chances of an automatic place. If we had any of those 5 above our games against Donny, Bristol and BHA may have been wins.
Yes but bar Ricky Lambert which was how many years ago now? How many of those come when we was broke, literally broke and how many has Le Fondre scored?
Not really sure what you are trying to say there. We paid over a milion quid for Mclean in January, what is your point? We paid over the odds and it has not worked out. Le Fondre 2 in 4.
Not saying we can, but the Big Centre Forward deficiency is one of the reasons our excellent play is not being rewarded with a shed-load of goals. I also think WE DO have a defensive outlook. I've seen us plenty of times this season take the lead and then try and defend it. That will result in one of two things; either the score staying the same or the opponents equalising. THAT is another big reason why we haven't given anyone a hiding. BTW Maynard is becoming an urban myth, at least as far as his fee is concerned. Also he isn't a Centre forward, at least not the type we need. Also, Le Forndre isn't a BIG Centre Forward of that type.
Go ahead and shout mate. I agree, we need someone to bring the ball down, hold it, then release it to the other strikers in space. The problem we have at the moment is that we're expecting the strikers not only to score goals but also make them. Of course good forwards can do this but the bulk of most striker's goals are opportunist efforts where their only input is to smack the ball into the net. Saying all that I do think NP will get it right by bringing in a big lad soon.
This is a criticsism! I think NP is good at identifying defenders and midfielders but not very good at buying good goal scorers, or he won't spend proper money for them
