Morals aside, at the moment there's a legitimate debate. If England can't qualify from the group without Rooney then he wasn't going to win us the tournament, and on the other hand if Crouch, Defoe and Young take the group by storm who's to say that Rooney would get picked if he's in the squad? But what if the ban gets extended by a match because UEFA don't see any grounds for the appeal? We have only been to the semi-finals of a tournament on foreign soil once in our history, so surely in those circumstances there is absolutely no way we can take him?
Ofcourse it does you cant take a player to a tournament who is suspended for most of it , might as well take one of watfords one legged donkeys!
From the MAIL ON SUNDAY : 'Wayne Rooney may fly to Switzerland to make a personal appeal to UEFA in a bid to save his Euro 2012 campaign' So it's true - pigs can fly. Sounds to me as though he also thinks that his selection is in doubt.
