That is useless defending by Germany. Rudiger gets tight to Benzema then decides to run away and chase the ball when someone else has the space. Benzema now free to play the one two. Nobody covers the runner and then shinned own goal. Horror show.

France’s pace going forward is unbelievable. They’ll take some stopping in this tournament

Only saw the second half - not impressed
But Mbappe is very dangerous. Germany were poor.

was it just me that was looking to this game to 'ignite' the competition?

pretty dire affair so far, maybe the fact that so many go through is holding teams back, not wanting injuries/tiredness ruining them for later stages but so far not seen anyone stand out...could also be the old adage of 'just make sure not to lose your first game' has come into play.

seen some good passing sides today though but few real goal attempts, wonder if they will ever make it a knock out format so teams have to go for it.

Overall it's been a great start to the tournament from the first round of games imo. Some great goals, VAR being very quiet, England win, Scotland lose, Ronaldo breaking records. Roll on the the second games. Buzzing for Friday.

France were probably only at 80%. Defensively they are very good, and Kante doesnt half help. Mbappe is a beast. I do think you can take them on though. Our front three will need to pull their centre halves around to create some gaps. We have some brilliant passers and I think we can give them a game.

aye, i think these first group games normally follow a wee bit of a 'cagey' start with sides not wanting to lose more than wanting to win...seems to have been a pattern over the years, just for some reason i really thought this one would be different, after a strange season i figured most would like to get the win(s) out of the way then just chillax and get plenty rest before the next round.

Could it be that a couple of 3rd place in the group's will go through that has meant teams are going for it a bit more? Except Scotland of course.

****ing hell, just seen that bloke on the parachute before the game on the news. What was that all about? Was he delivering the ball, trying to out do the Italians using a remote control car or did he just not notice the big, **** off football stadium he was landing in?

Apparently he's a climate change protester from what I've heard. Either he didn't know about the spidercam cables and thought he could land on the pitch, or was supposed to circle the stadium and land outside and got it wrong.
