He's not in charge of transfers. They are probably exchanging messages with Rafa or whoever to see if they agree with the targets they are after. It's good business sense to cover your bases for all possible outcomes. Hey Bruce, my local Pizza place needs drivers, £5 per hour cash, plus £2-4 per delivery plus one kebab and one pizza free per night. Cash in hand, no questions asked. Interested?
It depends if its outright money or whether it's subject to players being sold. If it's the former - Takeover. If it's the latter - Ashley still in charge. Interestingly enough when the takeover was first being talked about PIF said it would be training and youth facilities upgraded plus 50 mil spend per summer. So let's see if the facilities are scheduled to be upgraded.
I don't think it is. It's probably about the same. Championship level clubs/Premier league relegation level.
Why would no player sales and 50 million mean Ashley's gone? 250 over 5 years doesn't mean its shared by 5.. It could be done as they feel
You don't think his stocks higher having finished 13th and 12th in premier league and two quarters finals?
No. Why what are you thinking? Top 8 clubs? He reached the final of the FA Cup with Hull and got them promoted and ended up at Villa. That was probably the peak of his career. Finishing in exactly the same position as the previous manager whilst spending substantially more money isn't exactly an achievement, if anything it means he's done a mediocre job.
Not necessarily.. They could spend 100 right off the bat.. It's not likely they'll just share what's in the pot by 5. It'll be used if and when required. It's fanciful. Ashley has spent that before
Red Alert....Red Alert..!! Tsunami of Geordie Man Juice incoming! Close all doors, windows and orifices.
I know. My point was his stock can’t have been much lower at that point. I have nothing particularly against Bruce - he has actually done essentially the same as Rafa over the last 4 seasons - very up and down seasons with little consistency, good runs interspersed with bad runs, often flirting with the relegation places and eventually finishing comfortably. Games characterised by a lack of possession which make them a tough watch, particularly when we lose. I know you think we turned a corner this last season but jury is still out on that. We did exactly the same in the previous 3 seasons so I am holding fire until I see what we do at the start of next year. If the takeover doesnt go through there is no way we will be changing manager. Ashley doesn’t do that generally until its too late so am resigned to Bruce and feel much happier with Jones helping out. If Bruce is the public face of the management team, taking the pressure off Jones, and allowing him to be driving force behind way we play I will be happy with that.
