39 years ago today the Battalion lost 32 Welsh Guardsman who were on board the RFA Sir Galahad. Also killed were 16 other members of the Task Force and crew.

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old, age shall not weary them nor the years condemn, at the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

RIP <rose>

In the early/mid 70's RFA Sir Galahad was used to ferry troops back and forth from Liverpool to Belfast, crewed by mainly Chinese who couldn't do enough for you really nice chaps .Then only to be killed in someone else's war. RIP indeed

On this day, I became a grandad again. :) Bit of a rush, birth was planned later today as a C section. But the little one couldn’t wait and they just made the hospital in time for one push and hey presto we have another Grandson, another Jack for the faithful.
Congratulations - brilliant news!

A little cygnet <ok>

I didn’t go - I was in the middle of my A Levels. Last exam was the 17th June and I started a Summer job in BP for 8 weeks the following day: I was assigned to help look after the 2 sports fields. What a year to do that - the Summer of ‘76. <cheers>
I bet your A levels were Accountancy, Additional Accountancy and Further Accountancy?
