No worries, I should definitely apologise too. I should have realised what you were feeling earlier and been more empathetic about it. I felt really guilty about it after I thought about it afterwards so there's no hard feelings from me.

Off topic (maybe the thread needs it lol), but I'll bring it back and I have fixed my first world problem.

Basically the hot tub kept erroring with a water flow error - called Lazy Spa and they said i need a new pump for £500 or recon for £300. Anyway, went on google and saw that they use a plastic impeller rod that perishes. Bought a new impeller with metal rod for £10 and just spent 40 mins doing it. Hot tub warming up now.

What I will say is that if it wasn't for the lockdowns I wouldn't of had the courage to take apart a pump as the lockdowns taught me that if it broke, try yourself before you call in the experts. Laid a patio the other week too. And I am known as a DIY disaster. Lockdowns aren't all bad, but we don't need another.

In the 1960s people had small pox, polio and TB vaccinations to eradicate those cursed diseases and it ****ing worked.

I remember only too well so many friends laid low by these diseases. A mate was crippled for life by polio.

The fact that none of you youngsters have caught any of these illnesses is due to the willingness with which people came forward at that time.

Stop being whinging cry babies and do what needs to be done.

Some people really don't want to consider the viewpoints of others do they? It's their way or no way sometimes. I strongly suggest you accept other people have a different opinion and choice to you, particularly without resorting to petty and childish name calling.

If there were Internet forums in the 1960s, I bet exactly the same discussions would have happened. And I bet there were people then who didn't get vaccinated as well.

I must have missed the history lesson at school where they delved into the world shutting down for 18 months, cutting off peoples lives, cancelling the rest of the NHS, businesses going bust and families in financial ruin.

Enjoy your evening, one of the #entitledbunch

Every child born in Britain between 1853 and 1971 was compulsorily vaccinated. The programme stopped because the disease had been eradicated in this country by then, and worldwide by 1980.

Fair enough, but my point still stands. Adults weren't forced to have it, just like now. It's a choice, a choice some people don't seem to be able to grasp.

And who didn’t die of smallpox, or, to be fair, any of the multitude of other infectious diseases that people used to die of before they were wiped out by immunisation regimes.

#entitledbunch perfectly describes those that put their personal freedom above collective responsibility. By the way how was the NHS cancelled?

Sounds like the end of all the restrictions is being pushed back then. Tbh it basically feels like back to pre pandemic round here, with the exception of night clubs and lower capacity at large events so not overly fussed if they do extend for another month personally. I appreciate I am one of the lucky ones though so I can see why others would want the restrictions lifted ASAP

Had text about getting my jab the other day, 50/50 on it atm as the mrs wants to go on holiday with her loser mates and their partners when this is over and if I’m not jabbed up I might not be allowed to go which seems like a great way of getting out of it

There wasn't the same level of travel over the past few hundred years so it wasn't as international, but it happened in individual cities all the time.

Smallpox killed 95% of the south american population and made some populations extinct.

Maybe you should read properly old chap.

I never said it was cancelled, i said cancelling the rest of the NHS, which well you know was what I posted.

How are people who have supported the Covid situation for the pasty 18 months to the letter of the law now entitled? Are people not allowed to be thinking it is far more under control, and that restrictions have to be lifted - that really isn’t the views of someone who is entitled, just someone who has another 40 odd year left and wants to live them, and wants his children not to be paying their futures to protect people like you.

How does that make anyone entitled? I've (we've) put the last 16 months of life on hold. We've all taken responsibility to save lives, we've all made sacrifices, we've all taken taken steps to help stop this virus, so don't go throwing that around at anyone.

Have you heard about all the waiting lists that have built up as a result of this? All those missed diagnoses, that have now turned into critical (even terminal) care, as a result of cancelled appointments. The nhs is heading for a far bigger crisis than covid. Reality just hasn't hit most people yet.

To be fair VM, the old stuff that happened years ago is not my forte so I can bow to more superior knowledge. But I am very dubious the stuff that went on previously was anywhere near the removal of freedoms that has happened for so long.

I am someone who got a vaccine the moment when asked by the NHS, ive obeyed all the rules, as have my direct family.

I’m not an anti vaccine person, and dont give much credence to conspiracy theories, but I still had the vaccine against my wishes to help the common cause. I have a 2nd jab in July, and will get that also, but just feel enough is enough - and we cant carry on this way and have to learn to live with it. If that means <3% of the population have to shield for longer, so be it, but it shouldn’t be, and I dont think it is reasonable, for the other 97% (I’m just broadly giving %s) to keep being so vastly affected by this.

I think the disagreement arose over vaccinations, more than over easing the restrictions. All of us want to get back to normal as soon as possible, and the way to do that is to maximise the efforts to vaccinate as many as possible. The Delta variant can be beaten, but only if enough of the population is immunised so it can neither be transmitted, or mutate further.

You can’t have it both ways.

My children and grandchildren worked through the pandemic as they were all essential workers putting their lives on the line daily. I was worried sick about them.

If you want to live another 40 years you'll get that jab.

I know you have a choice and I don't deny you that but I would hate for you to make a choice which would have a devastating consequence for you and of course those that you love and who love you..

I would feel I was being irresponsible if I did not forewarn you but you don't have to take any notice of me or anyone else for that matter.

Just remember that this virus kills people and does so indiscriminately.

Yeah but what does someone like him give a **** about normal NHS stuff that we all have to deal with for ****ing years to come. Same with the massive debt we are all going to have to pay. Well everyone apart from those drawing a pension, as it affects them far less.

but no, it is us who are selfish and entitled.

I appreciate this post, was very genuine.

Well done to your family for working in th eNHS during this time :emoticon-0148-yes:

I will get the 2nd jab of that i am sure of, because for the greater good it is the right thing to do.

I do have major concerns thoug, like how child bearing age people now have to have a different jab - my wife’s friend is a midwife, and they were talking about fertility issues with the Oxford jab, hence why they made the change for those age people.
