Not doubting it mate, but that's a hell of a recovery. CPR is ****ing brutal and can cause more damage in terms of broken ribs, lung injuries and all sorts of things. People often think it's a lifesaver by default but it's about 4 in 10 that it works for. Absolutely delighted that it's worked for Erikson.
The Danes heads are not right and its perfectly understandable. I don't know how you can switch off what they've seen an hour earlier. But the show had to go on.
Credit to the players for playing. Not sure I could and says a lot about their mental strength. We moan about them but this to me deserves huge credit. I have fingere crossed for Erikson. Unbelievable response in the ground to save him, ref and players immense. As always medical people blow me away with what they are capable of. The chances of success with a defib are much improved. Dont know if that was the case here. I have done a fair bit of fundraising to get them in grassroots venue where I am. The more of these things we have in community spaces the better.
I’m sure I saw them use the defibrillator one of the medics had it on his back when they ran on and whipped it off
For the record......I work for an emergency service (not front line btw) and the vast majority of incidents where CPR is used end up in a fatality - it's the best we (humans) have got but it very rarely results in a revival (it often does more harm than good) Those people who ran on the pitch, including the medics, ref, officials etc have done a magnificent job, make no mistake about it. The golden hour is make or break time and it looks like Christian Eriskson is on the mend.
I've just looked once at a replay, but I thought the attackers foot got trapped under the defenders knee.
I am delighted that people are still talking about Christian Erickson in the present tense as opposed to the past. Apologies if I've spelt his name wrong.
