Just got back from a run to hear the news. Absolutely awful. My heart just dropped to the floor hearing that. Glad I wasn't watching it tbh, and sorry for all you lot that witnessed it. As others have said, of all the places for something like that to happen, a football match is probably one of the best places in terms of the speed that medical care can get to him. Can make all the difference. Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery.

Christian Eriksen is awake and his condition remains stable. He remains hospitalized at Rigshospitalet for further examinations.

The match against Finland will be played tonight. This happens after the players have been confirmed that Christian is okay. The match resumes at 20.30.

People are disgusted that the game is being played tonight, saying players should refuse etc.

Pretty sure it's them who've requested it be played tonight, now knowing that he's stable. But hey, don't let facts get in the way of a social media mob <laugh>

I'm really hoping UEFA let it in the hands of the players/teams and didn't put any pressure on them to resume the match. I don't think they would but then this is UEFA.

I could be wrong, but I feel like, as a player, you wouldn't want the match cancelled because of you. and that the rest of the players will understand that and want to continue for him.

On BEIN Sports they announced it was a unanimous decision by the players.

No reason to assume UEFA would make that up.

This is one of those imponderable issues, in that if Eriksen had not been in a stable condition, would the authorities have considered continuing the game?

As it is, there is probably no room in the schedule to replay the game, or the remainder of the game, so how would the result have been recorded, if the match was never completed? Would it be have been recorded as a draw?
If so, there will always be people, from either country, or the other two countries in the same group, who will say that one or other team 'gained' a point, and someone will claim that their country missed out, in some way. I know that this incident should transcend mere sport, especially if the outcome was more serious than it appears to be, but someone, somewhere, has to make a decision about either continuing with the game, or replaying it, or annulling the result, or...
Unreasonable/callous as it may seem, continuing with the game is probably in everyone's best interests. Even then, would Denmark be allowed an extra replacement? If so, should Finland also be allowed an extra replacement, to make it fair? This is why top people, in any walk of life, get paid lots, as they have to make this sort of decision.

Amazing job by the paramedics/medics :) I was just resuming watching the match after doing a bit of work, only to be shocked by the grim scene in Copenhagen. Initially I thought the strickened player was was Pierre, as he wasn't with the group shielding.

Disagree there's no time. They could have done it at midday tomorrow. As it is though I'm certain that them playing means he's not in any imminent danger.

I don't think many supporters of the teams in the group would begrudge the game being cancelled and each team taking a point - if it wasn't to be completed tonight. It was so visceral and shocking to watch on TV - let alone being there.

I dont think any fans would, but I'm sure Eriksen would. Imagine him in hospital thinking he's ruined the match for fans and cost his team a potential 2 points. No fans would think like that but I can imagine Christian doing that. I think thats why he's asked them to play and why the players have agreed.
