Yeah I was thinking Italy look really good, but to be fair they are not up against much. However, the confidence from this performance bodes well against the better teams.
Thought this would have been a tighter game. Turkey have been worse than expected and Italy better. Definitely not a cautious opener as so many are in these tournaments, where nobody wants to start with a loss. You expect quality from Italy, you expect control and structure, but I’ve been really impressed with their energy and the pace they’ve played at.
Yeah I reckon so. Win your first game and your 90% there to qualification. I'd be staggered if anyone with 4 points didn't make it. Must admit although it makes the group's a bit more interesting I'm not a fan of the 3rd placed thing at all.
Oh no... I think my worst case scenario line up is coming to fruition ——————Pickford—————— ——Stones—Coady—Shaw——- -Trippier———————-Chilwell- —-Phillips——Rice—--Mount—- ————Kane—-Sterling————
If Southgate goes with a back 5. Which he probably will, surely he doesn’t play Shaw as one of the 3. It would be Walker or Mings? And then either Shaw or Chilwell as the LWB.
I would have thought Walker would have been part of the back three, but media is suggesting it will be Shaw instead and apparently they have been training that way.
Since that ghastly Southgate fellow has taken leave of his senses and not included any Saints players in his squad, then I`m happy to officially welcome all my chums on this forum to the tartan army. The Scottish squad may be limited in talent in certain areas, but Clarke has got something going in terms of spirit. Come on you Sweaties!
Lots you can say about Southgate's England but I don't think you can say they lack spirit. Hoping all home nations can do well and reach the ko stages. Wales to get us off to a good start today
Yikes. I like Shaw, but playing him for the first time in a back 3 in a major tournament when there doesn’t seem any need to is a bold move. And that’s a very kind way of putting it...Hope he has a stormer!
I hope for a 4-3-3: Pickford, Walker/Tripper, Shaw, Stones, White, Rice, Mount, Grealish, Rashford, Sterling and Kane.
I would be happy with that too. Foden no doubt has more ability. Sterling's record for England is good and his pace is an asset especially against an ageing Croatian defence.
