Like who? Is there an example in the Premier League at the moment who has done more with similar or less resources, for example?

Chelsea simply aren't comparable to 98% of teams in world football as any problem can be spent away with the bottomless pit of money they have available to them

The fact they and The Sheikh Mansour Team spent last summer making this more obvious than ever by being able to outspend anyone else in the Premier League due to exploiting their wealth in a depressed transfer market should have put holding either of those teams up as a team to compare us to firmly in the ground, yet somehow it hasn't

After 20 years and 1 trophy I’m willing to take my chances on anyone bettering that…I don’t know who but anyone will do better than that. Not bothered about our league positions improving because once again with better leadership we could and should have got over the line on a few occasions. I don’t know who but I know Levy needs to get out because he never makes the big calls correctly.

    What makes you say that?

You are the 6th richest club in the country so claim that you are outspent by money clubs (some of whome break FFP rules to do so) yet your owners put you needlessly in debt with loans to build a new stadium. They could have financed this from their own funds as infrastructure does not impact FFP or they could have loaned the club the money over say 100 years with no interest.

Their only priority is profit for ENIC, the team come a distant 2nd.

I don't claim that we're outspent by money clubs, we are. It's not even close.
The stadium debt has nothing to do with it. Our spending has increased with it and can increase by a lot more because of it.

Your owners are far, far ****ter than ENIC, but your revenue's much higher, so it has less impact.
You've still become also-rans, for the most part, being shoved aside by Chelsea and City, since Ferguson ****ed off.
And that's with 86 penalties a season to help you out and getting a final against Good Ebening.

I woulds think the second (nothing to prove it though) because the more success you gain on the pitch the higher your profile (and prize money for getting into and going far in competitions), the higher your profile the better deals you can get from sponsors who want to be linked with your name.

    Short version
    * Prefers a 343 formation
    * His teams play out from the back
    * Uses a balance of youth and experience
    * Tends to overload opponents with midfield runners
    * Favours high pressing, albeit in specific situations rather than constant pressing
    * I have the sneaky suspicion that he'll turn Skipp into our Beckenbauer

As far as I can tell, both are about equally difficult although I can't find many numbers to crunch. Taking the latter question first, club value goes up with trophy success but possibly only slightly faster than the costs incurred to get that success. Reliable numbers are hard to find because clubs like Man City have a lot of income from affiliates of the owners which inflates the club value. I doubt whether Etihad would be paying so much for stadium and other sponsorship if Abu Dhabi didn’t own the club.
I've also not been able to find out much about the real value of an NFL franchise....they are worth a few billion once you have them but it seems the only way to get one is to pay a few billion.
I think it's like most enterprises really, you need a lot of time, money and luck to get any return on your investment.

You don't get it do you.
Our owners put us in debt the day they bought the club, they have since taken around £1BL out of the club but have never left us short of money for players (the ground has suffered though)
The likeness of the two clubs is in the lack of football knowledge, your's have Levy in his own little empire and ours have left Woodward in the same position.
If either were bothered about the actual club and not just the profits they would have sorted this years ago.
We were very lucky we had Fergie and Gill, you lot had a chance with Poch but no Gill to back him.

Etihad aren't paying that much for the stadium, Sheikh Mansour is paying a sizable chunk of that via an offshore company

He sounds like an interesting coach, having watched that video and done a little digging online. The 3-4-3 seems to be a recent thing fir him having previously played 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3. Seems to set his teams up in quite a similar way to Potter, in fact.

Some posts on various forums implied he was somewhat doomed to failure at Roma because of the state Monchi left the squad in, and long term injuries to top prospects like Zainolo. And the pandemic hasn’t helped anyone when it comes to recruitment.

He’s coached plenty of teams in Portugal who were underdogs so he should be up for the fight with those who can outspend us. Overall, with some reservations, I’d be interested to see how he does.

You claim that I don't get it, then list things that I've already mentioned. <doh>
You did well when you were outspending everyone and now you're not, you're an also-ran.

It makes almost no difference in practice whether the stadium is funded by debt or equity since the interest rate on the debt is only a few per cent. Improving the team by debt or equity is explicitly forbidden by ffp. Investing in the stadium is the only ethical way around that. ENIC don't benefit from increased profit as they take no money out of the club. They will eventually benefit from an increase in the value of the club and I think that is maximised by success.

They pretend it is Etihad for ffp purposes though.

I have no idea what he's getting at here. Fans can want a DoF and not be happy with the one that's selected.
There's no contradiction or hypocrisy there. It's no different to wanting a new striker and then being pissed off at signing Benteke.
