Without wanting to rub salt in the wounds of Cyclonic and any other fans of SYT down under, I was just wondering what peoples views are on SYT now that he has taken on the best in Europe.

My views are that he has performed well, and will always warrant respect whichever G1s he runs in, anywhere around the world. Though he has not lived up to his big reputation, none of his 3 wins have been that impressive form wise. The majority bought AOBs excuses after the POW, and they thought he was back to his best in the Eclipse, without realising that Workforce clearly isn't as good a 4yo as he was at 3. Since then he has failed to deliver. The Alarm bells were ringing when he scrambled home against Snow Fairy, and he then went on to come up short in the 2 end of season championship races.

Australian radars may be able to win the big sprints at Ascot, but when it comes to a mile and beyond, Europe is where the best horse's are, and I'm sure the Aussie racing public now realise this, having seen there champs colours lowered

You did mention he was the best horse in the race on eddievee's thread .................. and that eddie would be eating humble pie after Nathaniel wins today. Hmmmmmmm

I'd say the Aussies might have some pretty decent sorts over distances beyond 12 furlongs too, not just sprinters.

Well I can't be right on every race, I still called 3 of the 6 winners at Ascot today. Nathaniel was given a poor ride for me. He used up to much gas early on trying to get to the front from a wide draw. He was not allowed the lead thanks to the rag Ransom Note, and was forced out wide.

Buick should have dropped him in, and conserved more energy, before the business end of the race. I feel on another day, with a better draw/ride he can reverse form with the horse's that beat him

But you are trying rub salt in.I think they by now even the most die-hard Aussie realises that SYT isn't the superstar he was made out to be.Hes a top horse and hasn't embarrassed himself at any stage.

So I cant believe you have to be so smug about this.

Hardy....I have watched thousands of horse races, and having backed Nathaniel I became very concerned after only a couple of furlongs. If your making all you need to be on the rails and the rag was holding him wide and off the rails.

If the race was still at Newmarket over the straight 10fs I believe Nathaniel would have won. I suggest you also listen to John Gosden's comments before the race, even before the draw was made, that his biggest concern was being drawn wide.

I felt Buick was tactically smart enough to concede abit of ground early on, and make sure Nathaniel wasn't running so wide, though he clearly wasnt. I still believe he is the most talented horse that ran in today's race, and I expect him to reverse form with the horse's who beat him today

Dancing Brave......There is no love lost between ourselves and the Aussies when it comes to sport. They love beating us, and we love beating them. It also doesn't help when a top Aussie trainer as good as branded our racing 2nd rate, and claimed SYT Had faced far tougher horse's in Australia:biggrin:

Shergar, you do make me chuckle. Once you get a horse in your head you cannot let it go. I am a big fan of Nathaniel and fancied him for the Arc but couldn't have him for the race today down in trip and on quick ground. Buick did nothing wrong and there is no way that the form would be reversed.

You seem to be developing something like the 'Dick Turpin is better than Canford Cliffs' obsession.

Just watched the race (been at cheltenham all day)- I didnt have a bet on champions days today but like shergar I think I would have gne for nathaniel but the ground was always too quick for him- I expect from a long way out Moore liked he chances of winnig both jockey and horse did everything right got in a good position, picked up when he was asked even a furlong out it looked like he was gonna win by the french horse just had more "gas"

Time for me to pay my debts. I genuinely thought that So You Think would do better than he has in Europe. But he hasn't, and I'm more than willing to say that I feel a little let down. I'm not going to slight the horse though, the problem is not with the horse, but my expectations of him. The animal left our shores with a reputation Mohammad Ali would have been proud of, a rap that was a bit inflated. There was talk in this country that he was as good as the "Red Terror," but this was public hysteria, largely whipped up by the media, and gorged upon by a hungry nation. But as I've stated in the past, his deeds pale alongside the likes of the mighty Kingston Town, let alone Phar Lap. We as humans have a tendency to do these things. We're doing it now with Black Caviar, when we try and rank her alongside Big Red. But the wonder mare has taken a couple of seasons to achieve what Phar Lap did in a glorious 6 months.

On cold reflection, he's done his connections proud. Maybe he hasn't lived up to the wants of his new owners, but I don't think his stud future will in any way be impacted. Blind Freddy can see that he's a world class animal. I have other things I like to say on the issue, but this is neither the time nor the place.

Gracious and cogent as ever Cyc.

One could try and denigrate the OP by mentioning past predictions he has forecast, such as Dick Turpin being a better miler than Canford Cliffs, but I suggest we rise above such temptations.

Tbh,I'm really never sure what his agenda is anymore,or to begin with for that matter. To agitate?

    All set for the Semi?

    Unlucky Cyc - bloody Kiwis

For what it's worth I thought yesterday was SYTs best performance in the UK and you were spot on about how he needs to be ridden - Ryan Moore gave him a perfect ride but he was just touched off by a very, very good French horse.
