At risk of sounding like a boring Mr Sensible my answer would be no. Ever since i was a kid I've always been fairly cautious with money and even if i really want something i tend to wait at least a month or two and if I still want it then buy it then. Most of the time I just forget about things I thought I wanted and realise I mustn't have been that keen in the first place. The idea of spending good money on something and not really knowing/understanding what it does is mind-boggling to me. Good luck with your watch though.
Do you also tell your kids that they shouldn't get "top of the range complicated devices" as its just more to go wrong. If so I think you might be my dad.
