I think any noncery or feeling up some young media interns tits would be all over the front pages these days and the perpetrator would be up before a judge in a flash. This sort of stuff has hyper vigilance these days, precisely because of people like Saville and Rolf Harris who were allowed to get away with it for so long.
Trouble is it goes way deeper than that. They are only two to note, you can be sure many others got away with it. You only have to look at those that kept company around Andrew and Trump, two very powerful people. Nothing has changed, this is what happens when you can't challenge within a democracy, and we still can't, otherwise Andrew would be in America by now. They are still getting away with it.
Yeah for sure, they are just two high profile nonces that got their comeuppance. But that **** was ****ing rife in those sorts of circles. Entitled rich white men who thought they could have anything they wanted. Surrounded themselves with sycophants and no ****er ever challenged them. Trump paid off a porn star to keep quiet and he's got a string of women who've made sexual assault allegations against him. Him and Noncey Andrew were balls deep in Epstein's circle of supplying underage girls. Those ****ers should have their bollocks dissolved in a vat of hydrochloric acid.
Theres a clip of him hosting top of the pops and he sticks his hand up a girls skirt and she shrieks and he laughs. Mad to see
The thing is old soaps are actually "reality" TV, they tend to portray local communities as they really are with racist warts and all. This is why they are so long lived and have such high viewing figures. In todays whitewashed society (can i say that now?) we tend to cut out the actual facts of life and what we call reality TV is Geordie Shore or the Kardashians People want racism and other prejudices to end but whinge when they are shown (and shown up) on TV, Thick ****ers just don't get the message in shows like "Till death us do part" or "love thy Neighbour", they see racism instead of the piss take of racists. Soaps have done more for sexual diversity than any other medium around yet still get slated if one actual relationship is shown to collapse.
Not watched it for over 20 years but could still probably name most of the characters in the show today
What a lot of people didn't see with 'Love thy Neighbour' is it was how the writers intended it, as you have said, to take the piss out of the white guy. The white racist union guy, bit of a stereo type of the times - I often look back and wonder if there was a side swipe at politics, ie militancy of the left, they are our jobs the black men are taking (not me saying that, a mere perception of the programme) but racism is often deemed as a right wing label. Whereas the black guy was a hard working caring family man. (He went on to play a main part in Eastenders, can't remember his name). The problem with 'Love thy Neighbour' as I perceived it, was those that watched it, and those that in reality were racist, it just encouraged their racist behaviour, because they were generally too thick to understand, it was actually taking the piss out of them, their white British guy. Times have now moved on (or so we think), and programs like that have been weeded out and are no longer the staple viewing diet of the British people and yet I would say in the last decade, racism has got worse! I think some of this is being driven by the thought police, creating a double negative. Don't speak out against the knee, otherwise you are assumed to be racist. Don't mention illegal migrants because unless you support them, you're racist. Don't agree with cutting aid, otherwise, well you know by now! You must agree with us on everything, otherwise you are racist. I noted Ian Wright immediately shouted down yesterday the booing at the England game, and this is the problem, it's not up for discussion, yet some black guys also refuse to take the knee. Most of this is pushed by SKY a corporate business, much like corporate banking, they want to control the way you think and speak. I'm not racist but I am very anti corporate speak! Maybe the booing is as much about being told what to do and how to do it, as it is anything else - especially after a year of covid restrictions. If you want to know how all that will end up in the future, watch what has unfolded in Hong Kong. Where the police even film the media filming themselves. Scary stuff.
