What's to investigate? They've seen his media accounts laid bare. Should take all of 5mins to get it over with and ban him for 6 months.

England made a right mess of that second innings. Waited a year for fans to come back in, NZ set up a very chase-able total, 270 in 70 overs and we sit there and defend going at 2 an over... fans deserved a lot better.

In regards to Robinson, similar to when footballers have been banned for stuff sent before they were even pro players and still teenagers it’s stupid.

yes the tweets are stupid. Yes he shouldn’t have said it. But in 10 years I’m sure we’ve all said things we shouldn’t and didn’t believe. I wonder if the people handing out the punishments have said something racists as a joke amongst friends.

Maybe as a white male im privileged and don’t fully appreciate it, but I don’t see how banning him for a game, 2 games, wolves anything. It’s not like he sent them yesterday ffs <doh>

They never had any intention of chasing it down. The run rate hadn't been over 3 in the whole test (for either side), a chase down wasn't going to happen.
NZ knew that, they were in a win-win situation. Either they bowl England out or get the kudos for looking like they wanted to win the match.

They wanted to use the innings as chance to give some of the batsmen more test experience and a chance to get some batting form without the pressure of having to win the game.

Saying that Sibley has to be the most boring batsman going.

Tbf to sibley, we need someone that’s gonna be a pain for bowlers to get out. Even if it means he gets 70 from 200 balls. If a few others managed to do it then would be in a bit better situation.

270 from 75 overs is a walk in the park one day mode. It’s less than 4 an over and with a bit of effort could have made it a bit more interesting watch at least

Look at the batsmen in the team, none of them are known as big hitters.

Its also test cricket not ODI, different fielding rules, easier for the bowlers to hide the ball away from the batters (ie wides), even the ball is different. As mentioned the run rate never got above 3 for the whole match, suggesting it was a better bowling wicket.

Its ironic you say its good the Sibley played in test mode, 60 off 207, yet bemoan the lack of attack from England. Fact is this wasn't a ODI so the 273 was an unlikley target, England therefore had very little to gain from a run chase. Slim chance of winning, bigger chance of losing. NZ were gambling on England's pride forcing them to chase a lost cause (frankly it was NZ only hope of winning the match with the lost day), England saw it as an opportunity to get some batting practice in for the less experience players and accept the draw, the aim being the next test.

May not be the best watch, but its pragmatic. England have had too many collapses in tests over the last 5 yrs because they've focused on the one day game of run chasing, they need to regain the long batting format before the next Ashes.

Second England player being investigated about tweets sent when they were under 16... <doh>

Pretty much set themselves a precedent that any old tweet no matter how old is now going to result in a ban.

Every player should have realised that if one player got done the scum media would be all over the rest of them. Its amazing they could only find one other moron.

Why ban when you can force them to do some good things like community work around the games they play and coaching and stuff in disadvantaged communities.

Or just force them to pick up litter after the game, whatever.

Going to be no-one in the England team soon.

Aside from the 2nd player being investigated.

Tweets by Anderson, Buttler and Morgan have resurfaced

Strange that Anderson hasn’t been suspended from this game in same way Robinson has while they investigate.

I guess it’s a lot easier to suspend someone with 1 test match than your star bowler who is set to break the record for appearances for England today.

Must be first time in god knows how long W heavens lost a wicket by lunch though. Don’t need the openers to go crazy, just see off the new ball for the middle order and should set us up for a decent total for a change

god that is an utterly pointless exercise.

utter slow points grind then literally throw away 3 wickets.

A patetically low toal scored in the session then the next two in after sibley throw their wickets away

crawley's was pathetic effort. wafting his bat.

roots was just poor, there wasn't that mich swing to be nicking it.

sibley is stupidly wafting outside the line as well.

why bother standing there for hours doing nothing then waft a bat after lunch.

don't even want that. All you need to is move your feet at the right time and hit the bad balls for runs.

It was totally negative and then they close their eyes and swat the bat at something they should never ever go near. utterly pointless.

    250 now our max?

    less?

20 overs left in this ball. 175/5. run rate what 3 and over? add 60 to our score and we might be lucky to get near 250 by the time the new ball cleans up.
