I do have a degree in science as it happens. The thing is I'm not saying they cannot I'm saying we don't really know which could hit the levels of athleticism required today. It's only really fair to look compare what they in fact are capable of and in afraid athleticism of 40 years ago just wouldn't cut it.. The sports moved on progressively just like any other.. It's a totally different ball park now. They're athletes now
No. Everyone is capable of making the most of technology, but everyone has a certain limit in terms of genetic strengths. This is why black people tend to be better at sports because they have a specific gene Whites don't have. Some people are simply more capable.. My argument is that we dont know which of the players of yesterday could actually reach what's required today, so we can't just assume they would because they're incredibly high.
Of course some people are more capable or else we would all be professional sportsmen, brain surgeons, rocket scientists but that’s not what you are arguing. You are arguing that genetic improvement has resulted in footballers today being better than those of yesterday. I am sure that is not the case.
By the power of grayskull No I have repeatedly explained my position and unfortunately you've continued to misunderstand and then assert my position to be different than the position that I in fact have. I have moved on because it's clear there's nothing else I can say that's not already been said mate. If you continue I shall punish you thoroughly in the sweepstake thread lol
An overrated cuckoo at that according to CC and wouldn't cut the mustard today. Apparently down to genetics
The problem with your point is that I have seen TG and know what kind of player he was and you clearly haven’t. TG would have been able to play today as his style of play was what might today be called “box to box” but that would be unfair on him as he was so much more. I’ve seen Ginola. I’ve seen Beardsley. I’ve seen all the great players NUFC have had over the last 55 years and IMO TG was the best of them all. He was light on his feet, he had a bouncy running style. He was as fit as heck back then when admittedly a number of players weren’t. And boy oh boy could he play. He could dribble, tackle, shoot, pass, the lot. Style of play over the years may have changed. Players may be fitter now and do more running but a real, genuine, class footballer could play then and could play today as well and vice versa. Not based on their fitness levels then but based on footballing ability.
Roy has a pair of DD’s and behaves like a slapped slag 90% of the time, take no notice of anything ‘they’ have to say.
None of that is relevant to the argument I've presented. What you've presented are seperate arguments around areas I never brought in to question. Thankyou for your time
Yes and I stand by it.. They would be on their knees after 20 minutes. They're athletes now not just good at football
I get what you’re saying Roy, as footballer sprint more these days but... you know humans on the whole haven’t evolved that much since the late 90’s? It’s not like those from the 90’s couldn’t just sprint more, it’s just fitness, it’s not evolution.
How long was it in between usain bolt breaking the 100m record and the previous guy? That's obviously the best way to judge this
