Still waiting for an offer to be made on the club and offers to be accepted on players. Its the first week of June. Not much happens in June.
Even our last championship campaign, the business wasn't *that* bad. We still brought in Elder, Ingram, Honeyman & Magennis who'll be key parts of the squad next season. Obviously, there were bad bits of business too but we had to build a new spine and that's really tough to do in 1 window. Whilst his actions against Wigan were daft, Leo was a really good signing for us on the whole, he was our best player (minus Bowen/Grosicki) in the first half of the season. A couple more of those types this summer and we'll have a good season. We could play our starting XI from the back end of this year and we'd be fine, we just need to improve the depth/competition. Looking around, it appears to have stepped up a bit this season. Bolton have just signed George Johnston, he's a very good left-footed centre half and just 22. I thought he might have been on our list
Not much happens in June? Surely you’ll be celebrating @Ron Burguvdy ’s birthday? I certainly plan to get pissed in his honour. Not sure of the date so I’ve started now so I don’t miss it. Not looking forward to July’s hangover though. On player incomings I agree with you.
No worries - July is your birthday - might as well celebrate the whole month, so no need for a hangover...
Wayne Wallace has just signed a new contract with Langwarrin SC in Australia's third tier. Born in Hull, didn't come through our youth. Anybody on here know him? @SydneyTiger14?
I played with him at Hall Road for a couple of years. Great lad. Don't think he was ever in any clubs youth system though. He'll be getting on a bit now. Possibly 35ish? A few years ago he captained a semi pro side from Melbourne to the semi finals of their version of the FA Cup.
Speaking of Australia, didn't know Richard Garcia was the manager of Perth Glory. Sounds like he's not having it easy.
I think he's done a great job in a tough first season. COVID has disrupted their games a lot but he's done quite well to get them close to a Play Off spot.
Probably none of us. However despite the popular view. I seriously believe young people are far more sensible than our generation.
It all seems very quiet on the transfer incoming front. McCann said a couple was likely to be in by a week or so ago, but nothing had materialised yet. One assumes there are a lot of irons in the fire, I would have thought with the number of players out of contract, that we would have had one or two in by now. 6 have left, Burke/Long/Clark/Crowley/Whyte/Slater and nothing in, so we are desperately short on numbers, with pre-season not far away.
