It's surprisingly* unusual for a manager to win the English league top division with two different clubs.
Only four examples in history. Roughly every thirty years so the next one is about due.....

*perhaps not surprising in a way as successful managers unlikely to be sacked or move to a 'bigger' club after winning the League.

This is dragging a bit on isn’t it. Hope there is a plan B in place if he rejects the job.

If he's on the money quoted over four years then with his staff this is a £100m transaction (!!!). Taking a few days to sort it out isn't strange in any way. I don't think Levy can survive it failing due to a lack of backing though so I don't know what Plan B could possibly be in place.

Plan B will probably be Ryan Mason on a 2 year deal <laugh>

Although I have severe reservations about Conte at Spurs I suppose it's good if he is making sure that the conditions are to his liking before he commits.

On the other hand do we want a manager who is reluctant to accept an offered position. Is he saying I am bigger than this club are you up to it?

Arrogance is a two edged sword.

I thought Conte was the Plan B if Plan A (poch) didn't work out. At this rate, we'll need a Plan C.

Possibly true. I was hesitant about Potter at first but if Conte doesn’t work out then Spurs should go for him although that would be a big downgrade from Conte reputation wise I guess and would smack of the ‘we tried’ for the big name but it didn’t work out like we’ve seen with players before

Depends on what the aim will be. If they want him to come in and compete at the upper end of the table then I can see why he would make certain demands. Everyone knows there is going to need to be a lot of buying/selling just to get Spurs back to the levels of 2017 when they were so close to winning titles.

I'm warming to Potter too. He won't have an ego and flounce off if he doesn't get his own way. He probably wouldn't mouth off to the media about wanting to move on. I think we need stability now and I don't think we will get this with Poch or Conte.

Redknapp didn't have a history of successfully managing big clubs either when he joined and look how that turned out.

Ali Gold makes the point about where is the money coming from to rebuild to Conte's specs. if as looks likely we won't sell Kane. We all know his history of demanding players and leaving if they do not arrive.

Fundementally going for Conte is not a good move from a chairman who has just finished setting out parameters for the new Spurs manager as modelled by Pochettino and is then seduced by the glamour of Conte and his reputation in much the same way as he was smooooched into Mourinho.

Levy is a colossus when it comes to finance but a complete tart when it comes to dating a new manager.

I am completely at a loss regarding our new manager.

I have no idea what to make of Conte becoming our boss but I do think it is downright bizarre that we are still looking even though we all knew that JM had to go way back in January

Paratici giving his farewell press conference at Juve earlier today

People say we're slow, but it took Juve two weeks to have Paratici's farewell press conference sorted

It does seem rather familiar, doesn't it? I can see the dilemma he's got, though.
He needs to bring in a proven name that we can actually attract at a time when we're in a very volatile position.
Finding one that fits our club ethos would be ideal, but who would that be?
There's normally a few names that would grab my attention or at least seem like sensible gambles. I can't think of one right now, let alone a group.

You can see that if Spurs are seriously in a rebuilding mode as they should be then having a big name like Conte will attract the quality players we need. Potter would have a much tougher job doing that.

True, but it's about how we approach the rebuild.
Levy's probably hoping to keep Kane, which I don't think is going to happen and he'll believe that bringing in someone like Conte will boast those chances.
Being able to bring in players at the top of their game should also be easier.

I'm not convinced that it's the best way to go about things, though. We can't compete toe-to-toe in the transfer market.
Being smart and looking to the future is the only way that we'll get any sort of advantage, but it's a riskier proposition.
Going after top prospects and filling holes with pragmatic signings to carry us over will piss the fans off, too.
People want us to compete for the title now and as much as I'd love that, I don't think that it's realistic in the current situation.

Regardless of whether he ends up joining Spurs, I really like that. Shows respect for the club and the event.
It's a simple, easy gesture, but one that a lot of people are too self-involved to make.
