Don't think we're favourites. That would be France imo.

Second behind France, or at least according to the bookies.

They're covering themselves against any eventuality of us being any good though, knowing a load of deluded England bantzing geezers will spunk money us with stupid bets.

Last eight is about right, semi finals is a hell of an effort.

I'd make us just about 7th favourite, ahead of Holland in eighth.

We're way behind France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal though.

Yeah pretty much this. Odds are reflective of where the money is going and every two years there's always plenty who will lump on England.

We'll get through the group then go out to the first team that's better than us. Which is about right for this squad, who despite some of the hype, is still sorely lacking in experience as well as quality in key positions.

Nothing against Southgate personally but I agree with Sucky, think it's largely down to the manager.

We'll play with fear and within ourselves. Until we get a manager who can change that, we'll always be the same.

We'll end up being outclassed by another side which imo isn't necessarily better but just plays to their strengths while we don't.

I think successive England managers have been so **** scared of the media destroying them if things go wrong, that they always opt for conservative football.

It’s dull and predictable and we almost always get found out against a team with some flair and passion.

Yeh definitely, but a few are just limited in terms of tactics or lacking in belief in the players they have. I hope I'm wrong but Southgate seems to be that way rather than being afraid of the media. I like how he comes across in interviews, but the football on the pitch is poor at times.

Germany score in 30 seconds! U21s Semi Final

Portugal the other team, already through to the final, after beating Spain earlier today 1-0 due to an 80th minute own goal.

We normally get let down by the quality of our defending, and in particular the ability to play out from the back, and our inability to hold onto the ball well in midfield. Unfortunately these skills are often overlooked in the Premier League and it shows at International level.

We have some really exciting young players and I hope Southgate doesn't feel he needs to play all the experienced players. I would love to see the following team lining up against Croatia.

    Henderson
    James
    Coady
    Maguire
    Shaw
    Mount
    Bellingham
    Rice
    Foden
    Sancho or Saka
    Kane

Can bring back the oldies for the Scotland game when a few cool heads may be required.

Henderson hasn’t kicked a ball in about 4 months. You don’t come back from a long term injury with instant match fitness, and if at his club he’d be eased back in over a number of weeks. The idea he can go to the Euros without having any game time prior to it, is utterly bonkers imo. If he’s not fit enough to start and put an hour in for the last warm up game, then he shouldn’t be going, simple as that.

Similar for Maguire, the fella was on crutches a week or so back, and yet we’re expected to believe he’s going to be fully fit by the 15th? Doubt it.

We’ve made these same mistakes before, if players aren’t match fit, they shouldn’t be going.

Personally I’d take Ward Prowse now Arnold is ruled out as well, I’ve rarely seen the lad have a bad game & his set piece ability gives England a quality option imo.

Spot on. I would rather have Bellingham than Henderson in midfield even if he was fully-fit. As far as I am aware his main contribution to Liverpool is continuously moaning at the referee so eventually when a dubious call comes up they err in his favour. This talent is negated at international level where most of the refs won't have a clue what he is talking about.

Unfortunately he isn’t blessed with pace, a requirement for modern day footballers it seems(JWP)

agree that if Henderson and Maguire don’t start on Sunday and do an hour, they can’t go, take fit players. But Gareth will take even if they never play.

    Southgate is piss weak.

Telling Lingard he wasn’t going, but I’ll play you tomorrow in the warm up game, what the **** for? Same went for Godfrey and the others, just send them home you massive tart.
