I don't think it was boring at all, we were essentially watching the pinnacle of the sport with that side, the football was absolutely unbelievable and as a neutral I could only sit back and admire it. To play amazing football and win trophies is more or less every fan's dream and that Barca side done just that. What made it that bit more impressive for me is that 7 of their regular XI came from their academy - Valdes, Puyol, Pique (re-signed from Utd), Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi, they had Pedro breaking into the squad too and I think Thiago was on the verge of promotion to the side from Barca B. It was primarily an organically built team that happened to produce some of the finest players and best football of the recent generation.
Lets get all the best players and dominate the league. If that is what you want then you are welcome to it but not for me.
Barca produced 7 of their players, they didn’t go and get them. So basically if Spurs produced another 6 players on the same level as Harry Kane, went on to win things, you’d turn it off as it’d be boring? Bizarre.
It would be fantastic if Spurs managed that and truly amazing but after 6 years of winning everything I would be bored It's not actually bizarre because most people would react like that, but there are always new kids on the block wanting to hitch their wagon to the best team.
Most people wouldn’t react like that. If Spurs produced a dominant team primarily from its academy it’d be incredible, whether it lasted 1 or 10 years. Spurs fans would be jubilant for as long as it lasted.
You would find kindred spirits in the USA where sport is more in tune with your likes. It's like watching F1, I stopped that years ago because it has to be the most boring sport on earth. Yet millions watch it. There is no accounting for taste.
You are probably right as proven in countries like Spain and Scotland where only two teams dominate and win every year. I never watch it.
I gave up watching them after Barnsley, Sheff Utd and us where they had 6 shots in target over three matches, two of them penalties yet won them all.
No they were the pinnacle of skillful football. Probably one of the most talented of all time, no dispute but ultimately boring. It comes down to wanting to watch games where the result is uncertain OR wanting your team to win all the time.
So basically you want to watch good football but not too good because it’ll become boring? Best we do avoid the likes Bielsa and Pochettino then, don’t want to run the risk of Spurs becoming too good to watch.
