He had a scan yesterday according to Southgate. He was going to play a part last night, felt slight discomfort, had a scan which came back clear, but then wasn't risked as a precaution. Not exactly promising though, and just shows he's nowhere near fully fit. If TAA is ruled out it would be ridiculous of Southgate to not call up JWP.
Totally agree, but we have been here before with England managers taking injured/unfit players instead of fit/inform ones. Ramsey got it right.
Even if he’s not injured, he won’t be fit. And playing a player into fitness during a tournament (particularly at CM) is a frighteningly bad idea, that just does not work.
A lot of fans of all clubs calling for JWP to replace TAA on the Beeb, surely Southgate is not that blind to see him as the most obvious and sensible replacement as it would cover both TAA and Henderson with the addition of top class set piece delivery which could be a difference maker in the tournament.

Different players, the squad would benefit from both. Taking players on the verge of recovery from injury hasn't gone well in the past.
The team and squad are generally picked by the media, agreed with the FA who check with the Big 6 that they're happy and satisfied, any gaps left after that is pure chance. The press release gives the credit to the manager and everyone is happy! Cynical perhaps but that's what it has felt like for a good while.
In fairness and removing the Saints specs, Lingard had a cracking end to the season with a top six 7 side (hate saying that) and he has bags of international experience and is still a Man U player. As a neutral I would go for him over the choirboy.
I wouldn't. What's Lingard got to offer that Grealish, Foden, Sterling or Rashford haven't? We've got so much attacking talent and not so much depth in midfield. it has to be JWP.
I’m not sure he will have to choose between them, I doubt Maguire, Phillips and J Henderson will all go by the sounds of it. J Henderson is still having scans and hasn’t played in months ffs.

We all have our opinions, and as Saints fans obviously we would all like to see Ward-Prowse selected, but at the end of the day Gareth Southgate and his team will decide. They have access to all the data and info, we know nothing. How on earth could Alf Ramsay leave Jimmy Greaves out of his starting 11, but he did and that plan ended well enough.
