Enjoy!!! Wild garlic proliferates in woods.... dont pick at path sides as it may have been visited by dogs etc..... Great to chew on on a country walk too
Morning all. Not a bad morning. Mild and the sun keeps popping out from behind fluffy white clouds. Fetched the bread from the machine, that although it had been filled just under an hour before I got there was half empty. Now back to my toils, although I may have a another coffee before setting off. Have a good day everyone.
Strange experience this morning - I woke up at 5:00am to find our bedroom full of fog - or haar as it's called up here. As it was rather warm here last night - 16C - my wife opened the bedroom windows when she went to bed, never expecting a fog to roll off the sea and into our bedroom. Eleven years we've lived in the village and haven't experienced one this heavy before - even now it hasn't fully cleared.
Torrential rain and high winds here. Rivers have overflowed and many roads in the suburbs are flooded. Outside the city three brides have collapsed. All we need now is an earthquake. On a positive note bush fire risk has been downgraded to zero.
The Boris Johnson factor has reached New Zealand? I suspect that his new bride of last week - his third - will have collapsed by now...
Morning all. A lovely morning here, warm and not a cloud in the sky, but it maybe will not stay like it for too long as storms are forecast for Wednesday. My eldest granddaughter came in yesterday to tell us that she has been given her place at University to study medicine starting this Autumn. She has done well considering she came to France as a seven year old, without speaking the language and a number of health issues that in England they couldn't sort out. I will be back to more mundane things today. The runner beans are starting to run in their pots in the greenhouse and because of the weather their outside spot is only half ready. Still a coffee first, then I will set to. Have a good holiday if you are in the UK.
Looks like bears garlic Fez. It should smell of garlic ! There should be several stems for each plant growing out of the ground - if plants quirl from a central stem then leave them alone because of the similarity to Lilly of the Valley and other plants ! We have this close to us and wild boars love it as well.
Good day all..... used the electric rotavator for the first time.... . amazing.... cleared a bed in five minute.....like ploughing with a wild horse... and then only 25 minutes rewiring the cut through wire.... still quicker than by hand
Morning all. Warm and sunny at present, but it doesn't look as though it will last with overnight storms forecast. Taking Mme. to the hospital this afternoon to have her knees x-rayed. Last time she went to see the GP for her regular check-up, she rather hobbled in, so the doctor suggested that because her knees act as a barometer they should find out why. Let us hope that the forecast rains are not getting close to here. Have a good day all.
Said our goodbyes to Mrs Fez Snr today. Very simple occasion, non religious save for a Psalm. More time talking about the person who was, how it should be, and the nod to god was all that was required to show due deference. Back home to sit quietly in the garden... and catch a few too many rays! Not completely lobstered but too long out for sure. Hey ho. Back to the grind in the morning!
Having been to more funerals than I can remember, I came to the conclusions that everyone leaves a small, or large mark on family and friends, and in that sense they will live on. An e-mail or telephone call from an undertaker asking me to provide suitable music for a family I didn't know is not that easy. Sometimes it would be a specific tune they wanted as they came in or went out, sometimes a specific hymn. Sometimes a family knew nothing about music. I was sad when the person leading the service hadn't done their homework which was quite obvious, whereas I always felt it was my duty to do the very best I could. Twenty five years since my mother died, but I still think about her, and how grateful I am for all that she did for me.
Funerals are important. They provide a proper closure. I missed my mother's funeral and didn't realise how significant that was until I visited her grave 45 years later.
Morning all. Cloudy and warm and I should be gardening but the laptop seems to be totally lacking in cooperation despite my best efforts. I have had it a long time, well most of it, as it had to have a new hard drive about three years ago. My feeling is that taking everything into account I might do better to get a new one, but how I dislike having to set everything up again from scratch. A spot of research first as I am not going to fork out a fortune. Have a good hassle free day.
Morning all. Another lovely start to the day, warm and sunny. New technology this morning and nothing on the keyboard is quiet the same. The fingers will need a period of re-education, but have worked out where to find the fullstop now. No doubt I will get used to it, but please excuse any wierd typos meanwhile. Have a good day all.
Is it a French keyboard? I end up swearing a lot when using my Mum's one. You can get keyboard stickers and change the default keyboard to UK layout which really helps
