True but surely an England squad player should be able to pass to the correct player

Don't think it's been that bad. Lovely move for the goal.
Very disjointed now after all the subs.
Some of those playing tonight aren't even in the final squad.

What's farcical about the lad getting injured?

The game became farcical, partly due to the ref, but England were all over the place at the end.

I sympathise with Trent-Arnold, who I consider to be our best right-back, but we don't need to replace him with another RB. Ward-Prowse should be brought in.

I think he's our best wing back if we play that system, so he'll definitely be missed.
If Alexander-Arnold is out, he'll call up Lingard or Ward-Prowse I reckon.

Grealish looked good, the closest player I've seen to compare to Gascoigne. Nowhere close of course, but a player who can take on players and change the game. Hopefully he will develop.

Hoddle leaving out Gascoigne in the 1998 World Cup will never ever sit easy with me. Huge mistake.

I'd prefer Grealish coming in from the left, Mount central and Foden on the right behind Kane if he's playing 4-2-3-1.
I'd prefer 4-3-3, but with Maguire injured I fear we'll revert to 3-4-3 which I don't like, unless he plays Mount as one of the two central midfielders, which would be more attacking.
Agree that Grealish must start. He and Mount are our two most creative players imo.
Add some speed off the bench from Rashford, Sterling and Sancho and we have no problems going forward.

I will never forget that. I hurt my back and was off work when he announced the team with no Gazza. <doh>

Some interesting stats from football writer and statistician Richard Jolly on what formation England should play ...

What was the conclusion? I couldn’t work it out.

Looks like 4-3-3, which all the great teams played, isn’t permitted. Shame.

Four at the back against stronger opposition and three at the back against lesser opposition ... I think?
