Plus Ox, and if we include squad players, then Elliot, Phillips and R. Williams. Also Robertson and N. Williams as British if not English players. But it does feel like we have less English/British players than we did a few years ago.
If i were southgate i'd be getting my brown paper bag mask ready. No maguire leaves a tyrone mings shaped mess at the back. Midfield is at best half fit. rice, henderson and the leeds lad are all doubts. Add in dropping trent to that and you have a recipe for a sacking.
Please, please, please drop Hendo and leave him at home with Trent, then I can comfortably watch this tournament just with fingers crossed that Robbo comes through alright and **** the rest.
we have tsimikas, robbo can do one in the end i'd be more worried about jota in the euros and then the copa has alisson, fabinho and firmino off in brazil. As it stands we can but hope we have a good preseason with the rest
I hardly think there's a grand conspiracy that two utd "wonderkids" like lingard and greenwood are missing. Both will be quite disappointed they will miss getting splinters all tournament then putting on their kit to pretended they won it too.
Is there a change southgate fudges this? Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Manchester United), Sam Johnstone (West Bromwich Albion), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Sheffield United). Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Conor Coady (Wolves), Ben Godfrey (Everton), Reece James (Chelsea), Harry Maguire (Manchester United), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Ben White (Brighton & Hove Albion). Midfielders: Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds), Declan Rice (West Ham), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton). Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa). 33 into 26 requires 7 disappointed players. however we already know 4 who wouldn't go normally. its as easy send saka, watkins and white home as it is take one and leave trent home. for me with foden rashford, sterling, Sancho, grealish and even mount its quite tough to see a spot for saka thats obvious even as a sub. then looking at watkins theres kane and rashford and calvert lewin before you get to him. For white to make the plane its slightly more logical as stones and maguire are starters with mings and coady as back up and with maguire injured thats not good at all. The issue for me is southgate is as likely to put walker as a right side player in a 3 as go near white. then theres ward prowse. As a CM? bit weak tbh. Nice attacking player and passing but not for me at this level. Henderson and phillips are major doubts so its how england construct a midfield and i would want bellingham AND ward prowse along. Trent, james, walker and trippier is certainly too many right fulls. something has to give there but it might be as easy pretend to be flexible and start calling walker your reserve CB and trippier a left full and stuff. trent could be a cm. stuff like that. England have more than enough options to allow southgate to avoid the obvious stupid errors but i just have a feeling midfield will blow up in his face over the tournament.
you'd never guess if you were pulling a competition from two countries who have bad covid, where you you put it instead
It was because of a surge in Covid cases in Argentina. They were originally co-hosting with Colombia and Colombia was dropped because of widespread and consistent protests against the government. Everything is political now
FUDGED I bet southgate will send saka home just to avoid the questioning on the worlds greatest worst right back ever.
Everton Don Carlo gets what he wasnts and what he wants is apparently to the **** away from Everton . ©Libby
