Henderson is a good player, and a leader. But as I said before, why are people mistaking Southgate for a good manager? That's the bit I don't understand.
People overhyped him based on getting us, through sheer luck and a relatively easy pathway, to the semi finals in 2018. He's done nothing to convince me since he's a good manager. He's still riding the crest of that glorious summer of 2018.
In fairness, with the talent we have in attacking areas, we could win this thing even with GS in charge. But you wouldn’t want him at your club. Chris Coleman MK 2.
Henderson is a good player, I’ll just leave that out there. But, he hasn’t played pretty much all season, I can only imagine Phillips hasn’t made it either? Rice, Phillips and Henderson would be a way too defensive selection.
Honestly you would think his competition featured a Premier League winner, La Liga winner and Champions League winner. Oh wait.
Henderson is overrated. But Ward-Prowse is also overrated in my opinion, and Henderson is better than him. That said, I'm a bit pissed off that given Henderson's injuries, he's still getting a place ahead of JWP. It's catch 22 and the same situation as Ings. I wanted both in the squad, but at the same time I don't want them playing so that they can have a good amount of rest over the summer instead Also, if they were called up, they could easily play themselves into a transfer. It will be tough enough trying to keep Ings as it is, let alone if he bagged a few at the Euros. Also - Southgate is preferring players who finished higher in the table? So by that logic Maddison should have been called up over Lingard? And Bamford should have got in over Watkins/DCL. Southgate is a prick really, contradicts himself over the reasons for choosing players all the time and he's only in the job because he's a puppet for the FA.
The way the article is written it sounds more like a club decision than him, but yeah you would’ve assumed Southgate would’ve known about any injury worries before announcing the 33 man squad
Exactly - Reece James has got a delivery every bit as good, and is a better defender. Even trippier is good on crosses. Id also play AW-B ahead of trent.
I read this and immediately thought "Gordon Strachan?" I mean, he was great as Saints manager, but as a Scotsman, he probably wouldn't want the England job, apart from deliberately making us play badly. I then realised that you were referring to Gareth Southgate, but that doesn't provide an opportunity to talk about the ginger wonder
