I categorically will not be adhering to another lockdown in any shape or form.

    Enough is enough.

Oh I remember the days of being promised freedom when the vulnerable were vaccinated.

    Good Times.

Is there talk of another lockdown or just pushing back the lifting of all restrictions?

Yes case rates are rising (that was inevitable with gradual easing of restrictions). But crucially death rates and hospital numbers remain low. Let's just get on with our lives. #****lockdown #freedom

Exactly mate. People have given up 15 months of theirs and their children's lives as there was justification for it. That justification simply doesn't exist anymore.

Ultimately, you can't continue to ruin the lives of the majority for the sake of the minority's health for a period of multiple years.

Isn't that what's happening at the moment? Only in the UK and some other places, in the rest of the world no. Do you want to travel? You're going to need a vax cert and testing just ask your insurance company.

I mean, if you're waiting for the entire world to vaccinate at the same time, at the same pace, you'll be waiting forever.

I'm not fussed about travelling anywhere. I worry too much about all that.

I was in the lockdown camp for each one we've had. I think we have come far enough now to not need one. And yes I have a nice garden..This weekend i extended the patio by 100% and have fake grass coming this week so want to enjoy it, but also want to enjoy it with friends and family. We have to learn to live with it, and as long as we aren't reckless to life, no more lockdowns please.

I don`t know if anyone is - I know a couple who are however, one of whom is a nurse and works in the hospital. They are pissed off because they can`t go skiing in winter, and haven`t been able to continue their part-time activities as pub musicians. They think that if they catch COVID, they`ll just shrug it off like a heavy cold. No consideration that by getting vaccinated, they`ll be helping protect their friends, family and the wider population, or that their chosen lifestyle will return quicker the quicker the majority are vaccinated.

^^^^This. No spike in deaths or hospital, just people catching it. We need to get on with life now.

Not an anti vaxxer by any means, but why do people worry if someone fully vaccinated is at risk from covid? The chances of them getting very ill and hospitalised are incredibly low.

It's kinda the whole point of the vaccine! If we worry about the vulnerable getting seriously ill, then clearly the vaccines aren't doing their job, so why continue with them?

I don’t think a further lockdown will be necessary. The spread of infection has been limited enough by the first two, and more importantly, we are approaching the critical mass of fully vaccinated adults signifying virtual herd immunity. As well as this, the numbers of people having to be admitted to ICU for ventilation is way down, due to the therapeutic regimes of dexamethasone and remdesivir which have evolved over the last year.

It is vital that as many as possible get vaccinated though!

Absolutely. You can see it in stark detail in the US: among the unvaccinated, in some parts of the country, infection rates are as high as they were in mid-winter. But overall infection rates (and particularly symptomatic infection rates and hospitalizations) have fallen massively, because so much of the population has had at least one dose. And as vaccination is now available to anyone who wants it of any age category, it's effectively a decision at this point.

We'll need to be mindful of monitoring whether variants outkick the coverage enough that vaccinated individuals start getting extremely sick, and the percentage of people who are fully vaccinated still needs to come up, but I don't think a further lockdown is going to be necessary.

I am sure that much of the concern by the scientific community is that transmissibility needs to be reduced so that there is no scope for the virus to mutate in to something nastier which may not be treatable with the current vaccine. The news over the weekend suggested a race to get as many people vaccinated as possible so that they are protected against the Indian variant and the threat of mutation is minimalised.

I am not in favour of opening up to foreign travel. I feel that this is much too early when other countries are so far behind the curve in comparison with the UK. It has been interesting to see France impose restrictions on travel from the UK because their issue is not so much that we will pass on the virus but a greater proportion of their population remains at risk. I am sure that we will experience a similar situation in the UK later this year when a mutation abroad transpires to make our vaccines less reliable. I hope that we do not permit the kind of travel that permitted the Indian variant in to the UK. This is something that will be still be very much of a problem for the next five years at least , if not something we will need to be permanently aware of.

Quite disappointed by businesses pushing for full restrictions to be lifted on 21st June whereas any decision needs to be made by scientists and the medical profession. People forget that the economy is there to serve them as opposed to the people serving the economy.
