Jordan Henderson is better than JWP, plus his experience will be seen as useful with quite a young squad. Of the Saints players Ings should have far more to complain about not making the squad than JWP
Tbf, Southgate has said that he favours the players who were in his March squad. That was his rational for leaving out Danny... That March squad which didn't have Henderson in it...
In fairness, Henderson is a far better CM than Prowsie, who excluding set pieces, is pretty average if we're honest.
I disagree, I think Hendrson is very overrated personally. However, excluding his abilities, does he deserve a callup having been injured for most of 2021? I don't think so. We can't afford to take players who haven't played in so long, imo, players who might take 3/4 games to get match fit again.
Nah he’s just a premier league and champs league winning donkey compared to JWP who’s main attribute is he doesn’t get injured
In all seriousness though I’d imagine that our form in 2021 would’ve been enough for any of our players to play their way out of Euro reckoning
There's a lot of players who win trophies, doesn't mean they're the best player if they're in the right team. Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge, Adam Johnson & Darren Gibson all have a PL winners medal too.
On your first point, I used to agree but Klopp has brought him on immeasurably imo. On the second, I'd generally agree but it's one of our biggest problem positions and if he's fit then he has to go. Our CM's are so average he'll be a huge miss if he's not there in my view. I'd play a midfield 3 of Henderson, Mount & Foden personally.
Were any of those captains of the team that won the medals? I’d also argue that Welbeck, Sturbridge and Adam Johnson were all good players in their primes
David May has got the same trophies as him. As I said before it's just my personal opinion of Henderson.
