I’d imagine valuations have so many variables in football. Length of contract remaining, wage, form of player, overall quality of player, HG status or not, media reputation & marketability, age, the loss of selling club’s merchandise sales via losing the player plus the potential value of merchandise sales to the club buying the player, status of player to a club and its fans, status of player to their national team... There’s probably more I’m not thinking of (it is gone midnight!). Taking Kane from Spurs will be bigger than when Madrid took Bale. He means a lot more to us than Bale did and Bale was someone more or less worshipped. A player who comes through the ranks and becomes the club’s (and country’s) poster boy is something you’ll probably only see every 50+ years and that’s if you’re lucky.
Player valuations are (in reality) set by the purchaser. The same criteria you have set out still stand but it's what the buying club think they can make from the player. Marketing, extra points to gain/win things like CL, imaging rights, length of service and possible recuperation at end of contract (re-sale value). If the selling club gets silly/greedy then they get to keep an unhappy player for a while longer on full pay
If these rumours of Poch returning are true, it has been yet more gross incompetence from Levy, the whole ridiculously stupid episode of sacking Poch, appointing Mourinho and then sacking him 18 months later, before reappointing Poch, must have cost the club upwards to around £50m in wages, severance packages and buy out fees etc. Vintage Levy.

Levy now has no choice but to spend, and to repair the current mess he has created all by himself, and no doubt his incompetence will be paid for by this summers transfer kitty, he has made mistakes with alarming regularity, and colossal ones at that, but that comes from being a businessman who is clueless about football affairs. The bloke is essentially an accountant and property developer, but laughably he is in charge of the football affairs of a PL club. If the rumours are to be believed, Levy is trying to reappoint a manager who called on him to be `brave`, and who then subsequently lost interest when Levy (predictably) wasn`t. Levy is a number cruncher who operates a very low-risk strategy at all times, Levy is the complete antithesis of brave.
Seems PSG have done an Ajax and extended Poch’s contract by a year (clause when he joined). He is now under contract until 2023. Compensation would be huge for him now.

You appear to think that he is both clueless about football affairs and stingy with transfer funds. Yet over twenty years our results have improved more than any other club's apart from Man City. It's a miracle. If you were talking about the Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland or Aston Villa chairman you might have a point. All started at about the same level as ENIC and all have done much worse.
Those clubs are all significantly smaller clubs than Spurs, some have had worse owners than ENIC over the years and some have not, there is no comparison to be made. All ENIC have done is return Spurs back to where they belong, which is among the top 6 clubs in England, from where Sugar left the club, any kind of half decent owners would have achieved at least the same, in probably half the time, it really was not a difficult job to resuscitate Spurs when you look at the size of the club, but after 20 years, we are still waiting for meaningful ambition to be shown on the pitch. Instead of comparing us to the likes of Everton, Aston Villa etc, why not compare us to Arsenal, United and Pool etc, because that is where we belong. After two decades of failure, some of our fans seem to have developed something akin to Stockholm Syndrome with regard to ENIC, over the course of 20 years some fans have developed an unhealthy psychological connection and positive feeling towards ENIC and Levy, so much so that they can see no wrong in what they are doing and resent anything or anybody that may be trying to change the situation they are in for the better.
All those clubs have won the League more often than Spurs, two of them since we last won it and one has won the European Cup so it's delusional to say that they are smaller than Spurs. The only time we've been a truly top six club is under Nicholson and for the last decade. Outside those periods, 10th is about our average. And either you are now making psychological diagnoses without qualifications or making them without examing the patient.
The main reason we haven't achieved the same results in half the time is down to poor decisions in the wake of successful periods of development. While I don't expect Levy to get every decision right - it is unrealistic to do so - he has got too much wrong and not enough right in this regard. Seeking to build on BMJ's progress with Ramos set us back by 3 years. Seeking to build on Harry's progress with AVB/Tim set us back another 3 years and so far we have pissed away 2 years trying to build on Poch. Allowing for 3 years to get themselves established before we accidentally stumbled into the Jol era in 2004, that's 8 sub par years out of 17. It's a lot, but broadly speaking we've still seen progress in more seasons than not. Just. The fact that those years haven't affected us even more negatively is testament to the disproportionate achievements of our 3 strongest managers but is also down to the extent to which Levy has grown the club's global standing and reach. That said, we are now on thin ice. If Levy gets the next appointment wrong, we'd be looking at 9-10 sub par years out of 20. And if a chairman delivers what is essentially a 50% success or progress rate, their input and expertise is equal to flipping a coin and should be heavily doubted. He has to get the next one right.
And on your point about Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool, they have all won the league many more times than us and have generally finished well ahead of us so it is again ridiculous to say that it is somehow expected for us to belong with them. Under ENIC in the last ten years we've been approximately level pegging. Again, the only other time that has happened is the 60s.
