    Okay counter argument.

He’s done the job Ashley wants ie survival but not the job everyone else connected with Newcastle wants ie progress.

I don’t count survival as progress and I don’t count it as “job done”.

I would love to have a team that attacks and not counter attacks. I would love to have a team that plays like The Entertainers. I would love to have a team that plays Roy of the Rovers football. But what I want is a team that tries to win whether it is football matches or trophies and not just to survive. I want a Club that looks to improve. To do “my job” we don’t have to win football matches and we don’t have to win trophies but we have to try to do so.

My manager wouldn’t be claiming job done simply because we survived and did so with 3 games to spare. My manager wouldn’t be lying to the fans and blaming them for unrealistic expectations. My manager would ensure we tried to progress and not simply survive.

All most fans want is a Club that tries and a team that tries. With Bruce in charge he is simply looking to survive by keeping Ashley happy. He has no longer term plan. If he was genuinely a fan he would walk because the Owner isn’t trying to match the expectations of the fans or even the expectations of any ambitious manager. It’s been done before so there is nothing stopping Bruce from doing it now except he has his own best interests at heart and not the Club’s. That’s why Bruce hasn’t done the job.

The problem I have with this argument is the forever changing goalposts.

Before rafa all the fans wanted was a team that gave 100 %, so he gave them that and they weren't happy.

Bruce's football was **** I grant you that and the fans complained and rightly so, but since Bruce employed Jones nufc have scored loafs of goals and the footballs improved, so what do they want now?

I don't see the correct problem..

Please just say what you want and I'll make sure its documented.

I feel the problem has been fixed that's all and of we start next season like we finished this one well be about 8th

As to what I want see above.

Most fans loved Rafa and were happy with him. The football was dire in the main but he was improving things as time went by especially in his final half season.

The problem hasn’t been fixed. We still have Ashley. If the takeover goes through that could solve the problem.

    Ahhh there's the answer.

    That's fine.

Bruce can't do anything then because they just don't like him

    He could resign.

Or he could change his aims from surviving to progressing.

He said he's wanting to finsh top ten? If post Jones form continues he'll succeed.

Don't try to fix what's currently working would be my advice

If you remember he said that before last season and then constantly downgraded that as the season progressed until survival was the aim. He also then had several digs at the fans for expecting more than survival and then changed his tune again after the late season upsurge in form.

He says whatever suits his situation at the time. I wouldn’t believe him if he told me it was raining and I was standing next to him with an umbrella up in my hand.

    Was it yours?

    17th was rafas aim...

    https://salarysport.com/football/player/andy-carroll/

Interesting website to view players career earnings and what they are on now.

Don’t know how accurate it is.

Honestly have a look at Saivets pay rise when he joined us. No wonder he couldn’t give a **** about playing.

He must be really bad to have never played like in our weakest position. He looked half decent against West Ham that time too

Bruce only has himself to blame to be honest. If he had said from day one that is aim was progress then fans would have given him a chance.

Instead he got everyone's back up by suggesting we should be aiming for survival because that is where we should be.

He has kept us up thanks to massive luck, Graeme Jones and Joe Willock.

    So what?

He had a pre season aim way above the clubs?

Would you prefer he didn't aim higher than 17th?

Also he simply reminded you lot that top 10 was gone and that his job is keeping us up.

He's done that he's finished higher than rafas last season

Steve Bruce has kept newcastle up for 2 full seasons under constant attack from the fans and journalists that have stirred **** throughout.

13th then 12th and the last quarter of the season we outscored every team in the league

It's switch hunt simple as that...he's done a good job looking at it now, but instead the fans keep crying about a bad run in which the squad just so happened to have a disease and 5 of their best players injured.

I wanted him out then, but the fact is he was right and I was wrong! Once he got the players back from injury we were a decent side! So what's the problem now? Losing an argument that you all made?

    Just eat your humble pie

Guys and girls it is really really simple.

For 18 months Bruce had us playing utter dog ****, some of the worst football I've seen supporting the club for 25 years.

For 8 weeks they have by hook or by crook (with Jones' help) found a formation that has clicked for them, played some decent stuff, and played well in games against decent opposition.

Bruce deserves the 18 months worth of complaints against him but also the credit for the last 8 weeks of this season along with the rest of the coaching staff and players.

Overall it has been awful with some very limited periods of playing really well. Consistency is now the key. Play like we have the last 8 weeks next year and I'll be happy to see him stay on a 6 year contract. Revert to type from the preceding 18 months and he can get the **** out the door yesterday.

Here's a few points - feel free to debate them rather than just tap dance around them

1.The fans said we'd go down last season and he finished 13th!

    2. This season we had our best start for years and the fans said the football was **** and they'd rather lose 4-3.(see point7)

    3. Newcastles form suffered when they had covid and the fans started saying Hah Hah we told you all and the media started to listen.

    4. Bruce brought in Jones and the fans said it was another example of Ashley and Charnley being idiots but were proved to wrong when we instantly improved beating Everton away and the fans said it was all down to Jones not bruce and no credit should go to him.

    5. Newcastle went 2-0 up vs Southampton away, but unfortunately Wilson, Schar, almiron all suffered long term injuries shortly folded my max.

    6. Newcastle struggled and the fans claimed if Bruce wasn't sacked now then were going down simple as that, but bruce maintained when the clubs best players were for we'd be fine.

    7. Newcastle got their best players on the pitch and finished the season strong out scoring most clubs in the league from that point on and we're involved in an entertaining 4-3 loss (see point 2)

    8. The fans claim he's not done a good job despite him doing considerably better than they claimed he would for 2 years now.

    Take your time

You see that is the true issue and that's that the fans didn't like him from day 1.

All the arguments they've presented have been proved to be demonstrably incorrect throughout and they've changed the goalposts throughout too which has made them look bad

They now abuse those people without an emotional bias on the outside when they call them out about it.

Just be honest and say you don't like the guy..
