Felt Gazza was quite hard done by to be honest. Personally I felt he was a great number 2, and there were times where he should have been starting instead of Hugo. All very odd when we brought in Joe Hart.
Quite surprised about Gazza, really thought he had another year left. Annoying we now have to replace him with no fee from Elche, who I imagine he’ll join. Though he can probably do better, very decent GK. So the Rose saga ends as well. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up, probably not Milan, Danny. But it’s a sad and inglorious end for a player who we could, as fans, have had very fond memories of, before he ran his mouth and became persona non grata at the club. I know how he acted was the final straw for many and that’s your right to decide how you want to remember his time at the club. And while that pissed me off too, I’ll try and remember Danny for the time he was one of the best LBs in Europe with us, when he was fully committed and the kind of ****house I love to see on the pitch. THAT goal against Arsenal. It’s just ironic we’ll probably have to google his new club when it gets announced.
*sigh* Really, do I have to do everything myself? please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
I have no beef with Danny. Ran his mouth and I called him a dick at the time but he’s a football player at the end of the day and I’ll judge him primarily on that. Players/ people do far worse than have a moan in today’s game. As you’ve said, that goal will be something no one will forget in a hurry. He’ll forever be remembered in Spurs history for that one. Wish him nothing but the best, same goes for Gazza.
I do. Acted like a complete twat, ran his mouth to The Sun, of all possible outlets, while injured and basically gave up completely. Shameful behaviour. He's wrecked his career and will no doubt have another whinge to the media at our expense on the way out.
I wonder if any of the youngsters we've released will end up at Orient with Kenny Jackett? Could be a useful move for one or two of them and his time at the club will have given him a chance to assess them.
I'm more surprised by Marsh and Richards, to be honest. Roles and Sterling both had really unsuccessful loan spells. Not sure what happened to Marsh this season, as he wasn't sent out. Richards just seemed to fall out of favour.
Sterling’s been usurped by the likes of Scarlett, Parrott and Etete in the youth striker pecking order and he’s had a number of poor loan spells. Roles is 22 now, similar time to when Mason made his proper breakthrough so it was always going to be tough for him. None of the departures have really surprised me much though to be honest, all were never going to get much of a chance. I think Roles and Marsh have the best chances of securing a decent enough football league team though, so long as they choose wisely once an offer or two comes in. Roles especially could make it to a relatively high level in the future.
Stuttgart keeper, Gregor Kobel, was linked with us last night as a potential club he may join this summer... Today he's now set to join Dortmund. So that one's nipped in the bud rather quickly, lol.
I am not or was a great fan of Danny Rose yes it was a great goal against Arsenal but a bit of a one hit wonder in my view. Always lauded by the media and yet just before him we had Assou Ekotto who was a far superior player IMO and left very quietly largely because of a self centred charlatan called AVB.
Yeah I loved Benny, my favourite LB at Spurs. Had it all too, could attack and defend, something most FBs these days struggle with as they tend to only excel at one aspect.
Marsh probably has a few suitors because he was pretty good at RB for Orient last season when out on loan, and I believe this season we were attempting to convert him into a CB, so he'll probably have suitors in League One Roles might get a shot at Cambridge, as he did well there on loan last season (and supposedly had a word to get Jubril Okedina his loan there this season), although expect him to pick up a straight red when Cambridge play Burton next season Sterling and Tracey are most likely going to wind up at League Two clubs, although I get the feeling Tracey is going to have more suitors
Rose was guilty of putting the knife into Benny as well, making allegations that undermined his teammate in the eyes of a manager out of his depth in a paddling pool. Rose lost my respect at that point and just continued to dig himself deeper over following years.
Wonder if they’d take Ndombele and Lo Celso in a 2-for-1? I’d even chuck Sissoko in for good measure...
