There's a difference between being different and being ignored

This is the thing about the word "British" I hate: nine times out of ten it's just a euphemism for English, and it's hardly a recent thing since Blair's talk of "British values" also ignored anything west of Bristol or north of Newcastle, just as the BNP or Britain First never seemed to ever campaign in Wales or Scotland

Actually, this just tripped something at the back of my mind: back when the Tories were flag shagging to completion, it was noted that during the 1990 World Cup a lot of England fans were waving the union flag at matches, yet by Euro 96 it was St George's Cross or have to listen to David Baddiel's tune adjacent verse of Three Lions on a constant loop until you rectified your mistake

Jayda Fransen (Hebrew name, Dutch name, doesn't like immigrants) stood in Glasgow recently. She got 46 votes.
I think we could get a Not606 candidate to stand somewhere and get more than that.

Fransen's standing proves my point, though: not only did she not stand as a Britain First candidate, but she stood on the assumption that because some angry blokes from Wolverhampton hate Nicola Sturgeon for reasons they can't explain but happen to rhyme with Weedo Grog that means there's people in Glasgow who think the exact same way

Apologies to anyone from Wolverhampton who happens to be angry but also thinks that Jayda Fransen is a twat

It's worse than that: on the Six O'clock News they had Kuntssberg filing the report on the story acting as if her name didn't prominently feature

The fact the BBC didn't think of benching her for a week and instead tried to brazen their way out of it, even though there's examples of her trying to shout down people on Twitter who dared suggest that Cummings was the source she always had on hand which really don't look good right now

So which is more sickening: Mancock trying to avoid answering any questions from the press by saying he has lives to save, making him sound like a Holby City character whose wife just learned they've been schtupping the anaesthesiologist, or him making sure the press all saw him in his Union Flag facemask as his car pulled away?

I particularly liked that in a statement saying that he was scrupulously honest he mentioned that vaccinations in Bolton were running at tens of thousands every day when the official figures show the best ever day is less than 5,000

Or English values either, but that is probably because they are all encompassed in the word "British" <doh>

You mean the Britain that has a Conservative government despite having almost no support in three of its constituent countries. English values are totally different to those of Scotland, Wales and Ireland.

    Read the whole conversation

The words "English" and "British" have long been interchangeable, especially in talk of "Britishness" or "British values" which only ever refer to the shouty bit in the middle of the UK

It's hardly mine, since as already stated it's one shared as much by Tony Blair as it is the LARP of both Animal Farm and Lord of the Flies currently running the country
