Leicester made it clear to Rodgers that he either joined them immediately or they were moving on. If we were talking to Nagelsmann before sacking JM we should have made the same demand. Which ever way I look at this I simply see incompetent management.
It's incompetent in the sense we seemingly had/ have no Plan B once Nagelsmann got snapped up. I think Levy threw all his eggs in that basket but Bayern came along and stuffed us, no one's ever choosing us over them. It's exactly 7 years to the day we hired Poch so assuming we have a new manager within the next few days that should be fine. But there's definitely a sense of desperation now with the amount of names we're being linked with and no clear candidate in mind.
Sunk costs never matter for decisions. If he is the best manager we can hire* we should hire him even if sacking him was a big error. So that's exactly what a shrewd financial genius would do. *No opinion at the moment as to whether he is as I don't know all the possibilities. Of the names mentioned I think it's quite close between Conte, Poch and ten Hag.
Inzaghi’s replacing Conte at Inter, he was briefly rumoured to be one of our targets but never one that seemed to have much serious substance.
What people don't realise is this is what's happening behind the scenes Poch to PSG's board: we should bring in Moussa Sissoko and Serge Aurier this summer Poch to Los Ladrones' board: if you want me to come in, I expect you to have signed Davinson Sanchez Poch to Inter's board: if you want me to come in, I want to swap Milan Skriniar for Eric Dier Poch to Levy: make sure the deadwood's out the door before I come back
Back-to-back Ukrainian titles, and three Hungarian titles in a row? Sounds like the "serial winner" some people demand we bring in...
He did knock Dinamo Zagreb out of the Champions League this season, to be fair! Not going to happen, of course, but he's been managing since 2014 and he's won five league titles and a couple of cups. Also beat Everton 5-2 in his first season, when they were managed by Roberto Martinez, who's supposed to be a proper candidate for some reason.
Because Levy made a mistake in sacking him? Admitting your mistakes and correcting them is just about the most important behaviour necessary to be a good manager at any level. A lot of the posts on this forum reckon that Levy is not good at that. Hiring Pochettino again should be applauded in that context.
No, It'll just lead to the following "We should bring back Poch" Spurs bring back Poch "WHY DID YOU BRING BACK POCH???" Rinse and repeat
I don’t believe Levy made a mistake sacking Poch. But reappointing him will be a mistake IMO. Time will tell
Lots of exciting rumours surfacing in the media of late, anybody would think it is season ticket renewal time. Levy playing the fans like a fiddle.
I don't care what Levy does...I will renew my ticket because I am a Spurs supporter. However if ENIC sell up to a bunch of crooks then I will be forced to give up on the club I love.
Fans ain't stupid so ain't being played. We all have different incomes, commitments, breaking points, priorities and live in different places. For some, the prices, furlough and the ESL along with employing JM was has made them step back. I was close but chose to renew my membership cos my daughter who is planning to move out to university is desperate to go to games with me and her sister...without her I would have not renewed until Levy had been moved from making decisions about our manager. For others this is not an issue and they will renew.
Conversely, I'm not renewing my membership because I'm a Spurs supporter. Levy's trying to buy himself back goodwill...with our money. He does this when he's in trouble, not when we're in touching distance of winning something. At that point he's tighter than a clam’s arse at high tide. Not that it matters. He'll make a load of half hearted commitments to whoever the next chump turns out to be and then, welch on the lot.
