I actually looked at £27k and thought that was surprisingly affordable for NCFC! I'm fairly sure Drmic, Pukki, Buendia have all been quoted as being on more than that in the Prem. Mentioning Buendia, it's come out today from Nick Mashiter that Getafe have a 20% sell-on clause, which might be quite the windfall for them.
You might be right! In truth I just haven’t an idea, I feel like I really don’t have a clue what we can afford for a defender on our wage bill. Whereas £9m for a defender feels like we could meet that. I do have recollections hearing that Pukki was on about that - but he’s a senior player, a striker, scoring buckets of goals. I also recall that Bassong was on £40kpw but we needed Tottenham to pay half of it and even then he was our best paid player. I just don’t know.
I saw this 20% mentioned today as well, never been quoted before, so perhaps there is more to the rumours with this information being extracted, or it’s just paper talk!
20% seems quite a high sell on clause. Hopefully if he or Aarons do go this off-season we can incorporate something similar into their deals when they eventually move on again for even bigger bucks. Anyone know if Godfrey or Madders have sell on clauses too?
I would guess that sell on clauses are involved in every transfer these days, whatever the % may be. Like you HMQC I would hope we demand a substantial % sell on for any of our stars.
