Worth noting we couldn’t register Rodon for Europe in the first half of the season because we signed him too late, I think. Don’t think we could register him after the January window either because the classification is different - he’s HG in the PL but not for Europe. Would have been great if we could have given him more game time in the EL.
Talk of Conte and Pochetino being the two top contenders. If it's down to those two, who would you pick?
I’d go for Conte on the basis he was backed and got rid of a lot of deadwood. Poch needs some time away from Spurs. Though I don’t think they are our top targets. I think it’s between ten Hag and Rodgers with Potter the backup choice. I think the club wants Rodgers but knows he’ll be very costly to get from Leicester and he himself may not fancy it, so ten Hag may seem more a viable option. Though should he also say no, then it’ll be Potter.
So some people say Conte is leaving Inter because they won’t financially back him and he clashes with the board. The same people then say he would be interested in Spurs
Rodgers has ruled himself out multiple times, it isn’t happening. Final 2 are surely Potter and Ten Hag. Conte is a massive no to me, if we’re looking for a manager who will promote young players then I don’t think he’s the one.
Yeah I don’t think Rodgers will fancy it but the failure to secure CL may have just opened the door slightly. I personally think he’s top of Levy’s list but ten Hag and Potter are both also admired, with ten Hag probably slightly preferred.
I think Nagelsmann was top but then went to Bayern. Levy is deluded if he thinks he’s getting Rodgers out of Leicester right now. Potter has also tried to bat away questions but selling the step up from Brighton should be easier.
Yeah Nagelsmann was top but he’s a goner. I don’t think he’s completely deluded now to be honest. He would’ve been had Leicester secured CL but I think if a comp package could be agreed with Leicester (which is what I think is now the stumbling block, they’ll want £15m-£20m), Rodgers may be persuaded. Potter will 100% take this job if offered. I have no doubts about that.
I don’t think he will. They’ve just won the Cup, have an excellent squad and their recruitment for his project has been very strong. I doubt Levy will be able to make assurances that this will be matched. He’s a young manager still who has plenty of time left to take a job at a ‘big 6’ club that will be able to offer him a more stable platform. I’d honestly question his sanity if he took this job. EDIT: Rodgers, this is. I agree that Potter is gettable.
If they’d secured CL I’d 100% agree with what you’re saying but I think the door is now just slightly open. I still don’t think he’d particularly fancy the job but assuming we agreed a comp package with Leicester then I think he could be persuaded by being offered a huge contract and any incentives Levy threw in, whereas had he gotten CL he’d have not even attended a meeting with us. Still doubtful but no longer impossible in my opinion. I think it’ll be ten Hag though having said all this. Just got a feeling he’s gonna be the one.
Potter is a gamble? Tell me a manager that is not a gamble. That's why I would go with someone like Potter. Why not he has experience of the premier league and to this extent I agree with Alerdyce. If he was called Potterlini he might be looked on with more favour.
You’re right, anyone is a gamble. With Potter I don’t think him being English makes people like or rate him less, like Poch it’s the fact he would be coming from a lesser team and the question is could he handle the step up and the higher expectations
Sorry, but that's clearly just wrong, as there's some clear differences between Mason's approach and the ubermensch's 1.) Mason changed our tactics based on who was on the pitch, for example if Tanganga started at RB he effectively played like a right-sided Ben Davies - while under the ubermensch he was expected to play exactly the same as Aurier or Doherty because that's hat the system demanded 2.) Mason's tactics were based on central midfield being the metronome for our play where Hojbjerg (weirdly) was knitting so much of our play - while under the ubermensch it was based on quick counters from the FBs while the central midfield were static 2a.) To make the midfield work as a metronome both Hojbjerg and Winks were making themselves available for passes from our CBs - while under the ubermensch Hojbjerg dropped back yet Ndombele/Lo Celso/Winks/Sissoko rigidly stayed up, and this is why opponents were closing us down so easily as our out ball was so predictable as all they had to do was put someone on Hojbjerg 3.) Mason's tactics had us alternate between playing on the front foot and sitting back to counter - while under the ubermensch we played on the front foot for maybe fifteen minutes of a match and sat back for the rest of it It wouldn't surprise me if one or two of the results under Mason were based more on teams assuming we'd play like we did under the ubermensch only to get caught out when we weren't, with the Wolves match certainly feeling like that was the case, but there was clearly a very different approach being used as Mason's tactics realised that central midfield is something other than something for opponents to run past when putting our defence under siege for 60+ minutes
One had us playing something called football The other had us playing something closer to Aussie Rules
Yeah, because fans were off their seats watching us under Mason with a Winks and Hojbjerg pairing and continuing to select Dier at CB. He put more faith in Bale and got goals from the Welshman whilst Dele had one or two good games and one or two poor ones.
