Presenting Vernon Reid of Living Colour

please log in to view this image

Very much underrated and overlooked in many "best" guitarist lists. Mixing Jazz, Funk and Blues techniques with full-blooded pedal to the floor Rock, Vernon Reid has blazed a trail with his blistering speed, whammy bar dive bombs and melodic powerhouse chord progressions.

Excellent shout. JDB is one of the great all-rounders. I've had the pleasure of seeing the Manics on a few occasions (always superb) and will soon be purchasing tickets for their tour later this year.

Mr Jeff Healey. Had cancer of the eyes as an infant leading to them both being removed before he was even one year old. He learned to play the guitar in a unique upside down style and often with the instrument sat on his lap. Sadly plagued with ill health through his life, Jeff died of cancer at the age of 41.

To see what a phenomenal talent he was check out this video which also features the sublime Marcus Miller on bass and Omar Hakim on drums, what a line up!

    Five pages!
    Five!
Mostly a list of six string bluffers, grifters and non-entities
And no one has mentioned Stephen Stills.
    No one.
    I waited.
    And waited.
Jip ,delete my account. I can no longer walk among these people who are not of my tribe.

I'm quite partial to a bit of John Lee Hooker, especially on Sundays

Did you know Milk & Alcohol by the excellent Dr Feelgood was about John Lee Hooker? The song was co-written by Nick Lowe after seeing Hooker giving a very lackluster performance.

Main attraction dead on his feet
Black man rhythm with a white boy beat

    A gem of a song <ok>

I know Wilko didn't perform on the aforementioned track, but did I mention we frequent the same chippy? Due to witness protection protocols, I'm not at liberty to divulge which chippy we frequent. Sorry.

Scottish, English and Irishman walk into a bar and the barman says...

Is this some kind of a joke.

Good shout. Prince was a complete multi-instrumentalist playing everything on many of his recordings. This beauty was commissioned by him but he karked it before it was finished

Story goes he could sit down with a new instrument, work out the technique needed, run through the scales and that was it, one more to add to the repertoire.

There can't be many better bass players than the Stranglers' Jean-Jacques Burnel. Aggressive yet melodic.
