There is no darkness where Brentons' teeth cannot turn one photon of light into daylight.

The biggest mistake with the ticket pricing isn't that it's a bad reading of the room (although, let's be blunt, it was) but because it's a mistake I've seen a lot of people making in the last month or so

With the whole Let's Get Back To Normal (Indian variant pending) attitude, I've seen things as diverse as restaurants and airlines basically split into three categories regarding getting people back through the doors
i.) Lower prices to tempt people though the door so something goes in the till
ii.) Keep prices as they were on the assumption that people will be back
iii.) Jack up prices to try and get cashflow back up ASAP

And that's where we went wrong, as soon as we announced tickets were available for a flat £60 we put ourselves firmly into the third category and there was no reason to do so, when there was no reason to not either cap tickets at a flat £40 or, better yet, just charge what we would have for the fixture in The Back Before Times

I know people have cited Burnley waiving ticket prices for their first game back as something we should do, but realistically if we just kept the prices as they would have been we wouldn't have further pissed off the fanbase before the match and also sidestepped anyone having the opinion of "£60 for this?" that simply wouldn't have happened if tickets were their usual prices

In short, that one mistake was completely avoidable either by more logical pricing

...although there was a way we could have made charging £60 for tickets palatable

What was the issue with the £60 price more than anything else? All you got was directions to your seat. Now, imagine if we added value to that, for example if the £60 got a ticket, a programme, a pint and a bite to eat. While it can be said that a ticket, programme, pint and burger doesn't tot up to £60, think about it another way: we would have people manning the bars and eateries to provide said pints and nibbles, so that a bit of that £60 is going into the pockets of our stadium staff, and suddenly that's a lot more palatable because even though realistically £60 won't cover what you're getting, it's also helping somebody else out - and that also helps ENIC in the eyes of fans because a chunk of that £60 is going into the pockets of those who need it

    DAMMIT!!!

...on the other hand, the beverage was non-alcoholic and the programme was digital only, the latter being a misstep because feelies are a tangiable thing so they give the appearance of value while a digital programme does not

This does show two things, though: first of all the club did a rotten job of communicating there was value added to the ticket price, and doing so would have done a hell of a lot because if it was clear that there was a bite to eat and a (alcohol free) drink thrown in with the ticket price it does become more palatable - although of course that got jumped on as an attempt by the club to save face after announcing the ticket price, which wouldn't have happened if they communicated what would come with the ticket once they were announced

Secondly, it was also announced there would be a lap of honour, which the club did a rotten job of communicating to the players...

Just seen the second penalty...they deserved to lose top four for that.

Vardy, the ref and VAR should be embarrassed by that.

Funny watching the contrast in vardy celebrating scoring it and him at the final whistle <laugh>

    Agreed re the NHS decision.

Re furlough, it took them a week to back off ... during which time the lowest paid employees were subjected to enormous stress which is unacceptable.
But the real issue of this is that there was no moral justification to make that threat in the first place.
It would have saved bugger all money ....less that 10% of what Doherty cost.

Re the tickets ... there is no justification for pricing fans out. By all means have executive boxes etc...but seriously £60 to watch bright, Palace etc?

How many of those who won't baulk will go to the ECL games?
Judging by the fact that WHL never got above 30,000 for EL group games I suspect no many.
Many of us (who the club claim as "part of the Spurs community") are unable to afford such prices so are being alienated and pushed away from a club we have spent (in my case) 47 years supporting.

The issue re fans selling tickets is easy to solve....only allow them to sell them back to the club...which is what happened.

Re the ESL...they should have kicked off the minute they were invited. They should have publicly grassed on the plan.
It was cowardly and morally corrupt , that's why they backed off when we fans (many of whom are being priced out) kicked off.

Wasn't part of that down to UEFA's baffling demand that the front 3-4 rows of seats be vacant for all European games?

Obviously when there's 25,000 or less showing up for a match against Qarabag that can't just be placed on a couple of rows of seats being blocked off because of reasons and can be placed on the usual reasons (price/Thursday is a crap night to watch games/who the **** are Qarabag and why should anyone care), but if it's around the 30,000 mark that's basically what WHL's capacity was if you there were 3-4 rows of seats unoccupied at the ground

In terms of the ESL, the obvious question is whether we, Chelsea or The Sheikh Mansour Team were aware we were being patsies for Glazer, Kroenke and Henry given the three of them were also ESL vice-chairmen and no doubt they all looked into how the rules stated 75% of teams (or 15/20) had to agree to vote to expel any team, which wouldn't have happened if six teams signed up with the ESL because then there can't be a 75% vote hence they needed three teams to go along with their plans. And why do I get the feeling that, in maybe 30 years, the answer to that question will come out?

Don't suppose he's using an HP laptop that insists you use No It's Not Internet Explorer Honest?

Because that's so oddly specific for a reason...

Tanganga's reportedly out for two months

Looks like Eyoma might get the preseason chance he missed due to injury a couple of years back

I thought it looked a bad tackle at the time, but they were strangely reluctant to show any decent replays.
Tanganga's had some awful luck with injuries and it's looking rather worrying for his career, at this point. Hope it's just a short setback.

Looking back, there was one positive about yesterday's raft of illness and knocks: there was no safe subs to make, which is what Sissoko has been for eighteen months, so every option off the bench was either a potential game changer or somebody who would be keen to have a good showing if they got the chance

So much better than a matchday squad riddled with ennui as we've seen far too many times in the last couple of years
