But not with Sanderson or Diamond. Johnson didnt pick Sanderson againt Wigan on day 1. He also didnt pick him in the second game against Lincoln but we did win 4-0 and he did pick Diamond. The next game Sanderson was in.

nope, can’t mind read, my friend. People have asked the question why did he send Flanagan on instead of Jones. Well only LJ can answer that but he isnt on this board. So I put forward a possibility. I at no time claimed it was the real reason. Just a possibility.

As poor as that was, I don’t blame that one for costing us as it was 1-0 at the time. It likely would’ve just meant we still went in 2-0 up. No definitive way of knowing.

His second half miss was much more costly. tougher chance but ultimately cost us a chance of the game

He played him as a full back in those first games the left him out again before bringing him in as he had no other choice it was a happy accident rather than astute management , The last straw for me was the game he pulled Younger off at half time and left Macfadzean on the pitch, this is the worst decision I have ever seen in almost 70 years watching football, and unforgivable imo.

We won that game 2-0 so it can't have been that bad a decision.

This is SAFC we're talking about - some of our fans would want him sacked if he had got us promoted!

Yeah i do criticise him. Sanderson is a level above League 1 at least so he should have accommodated him whichever way he could. A back 3 of Sanderson, Willis and Wright would have been a solid unit. Why would you leave a player of his Calibre on the bench, he'd already done enough bench warming to last him a lifetime, and the fact he done it with us with our squad is embarrassing.

Youve mentioned Parkinson again mate. That blokes an absolute failure of a manager i wont even waste my time talking about how much he fecked up

We are probably agreeing on most points mate and not trying to pick an argument. Sanderson was the best defender at the club and it was clear from very early. The results once he got injured showed it. Parkinson was a write off I agree and has a decent slice of responsibility for this seasons failure.

LJ gave an answer to that question Sandy. He said "well, he's 6' 4". The question was then put "So you were hoping we would get a set-piece, so you could use his height?" The reply was "Yes."

Sorry tees but I had no idea of his calibre until he got in the side. He never looked anywhere near the player we saw after a few games until then. He looked ok at right back. At that point everyone wanted him at right back. He played at centre half and caused a goal iirc

I saw nothing to say he should be our first choice centre half until he was. Maybe LJ and Parkinson didn’t either. Hadn’t seen enough at that time to make up my mind. Easy decision with hindsight

Likely if we’d kept Maja we’d have got promoted that season. And Jack Ross wouldn’t have been sacked
