I worked in the housing division of a local council and you wouldn’t believe the abuse and accusations that were levelled at me almost daily when “people” can’t get exactly what they want. And the most life-sucking of them all were the ones I’d gone out of my way to help in the past. I had, and still have, utter contempt for that type. There’s more human decency in a dogs cock-end.
I feel for Charlie. He clearly did work his backside off for us. And he scored a lot of goals and far exceeded any of our expectations this season. The miss yesterday was a big mistake but it’s just that. A mistake. He’s human. It wasn’t through lack of effort or not wanting to do the right thing. It was just pure bad decision making. But he’s not good enough to be the main striker in a championship side. And we need to be building a side that would be able to compete in the championship if we want to get out of this one.
It’s one of those situations where Johnson, had the losing and winning runs been mirrored and we’d gone 14 unbeaten to finish 4the instead of winning 1 in 10 to finish 4th, yesterday’s result wouldn’t have mattered to fans as we’re a fickle bunch. I’ve stated why I think he deserves a crack at next season. If he fails then so be it, but changing a manager a season has done nothing for us so far. Lather rinse repeat. hopefully those youngsters will get their chance we all think they deserve
Spot on! Not just that, if he took every chance he was presented with he’d have scored 70 goals this season!! And he’d also be playing at a much higher level!! he’s a good third division striker. Best we’ve had since Maja. Yet he still gets idiots slagging him off. Those same idiots, if I’d said at the start of the season he’d get 39, would’ve been delighted and also laughed (as would I) but he certainly doesn’t lack effort. He’s an effective frontman who scores “first touch” goals. The type of striker most clubs want at this level
Well, it’s over until the next season. We were beaten by a side I think will shock a few teams in the championship if they win the final. This season has been a bit chaotic. Things are settling down now so onto next season. The old book is closed and not a word of it can be altered. The new book lies unopened, pristine, waiting to be written in. So let’s get behind whatever players form the squad and whichever manager/coach we start with.
I doubt it. I actually think fans' expections in the playoffs were remarkably muted, down to the loss of form at the end of the regular season. If the unbeaten run was at the end of the season we would have higher expectations because we would have been the form team.
Wise words. A couple of months ago I was really looking forward to the summer rebuild regardless of which league we were in. A new progressive structure and confident the manager was starting to get it right. The club is undoubtedly heading in the right direction but the last 10-12 games have started to ring a few alarm bells about the manager. At the moment I'm torn as to whether they should stick or twist with Johnson but whatever they need to back the manager with some quality signings Can't afford to just trundle on and end up sacking him in November. KLD and Speakman have some big decisions to make in the next few weeks.
Why the feck didn't he square it ffs. The only thing thats making me feel better is thinking Blackpool would have battered us
He picked Sanderson in his 3rd game in charge. Then he put Willis back in for 2 games. It was Parkinson who didnt play Sanderson. It was hardly unreasonable for Johnson to play his former championship captain, and then one of the defenders regarded as the best in the division whilst he got to grips with the squad. This thing about Johnson not playing Sanderson gets a lot of comment on here but I just dont think it is true. There are others he hasnt played, but no Sanderson imo.
So if he were to win the league he would still not have your support? As for Bristol City fans views I would take them with a pinch of salt. He was there 4 years and it ended with a bad run, which is freshest in the memory. He also had some fantastic times according to the couple I know. They reckon the way they went after Man City in the semi final was superb and an example of how they played. The other is there was a section of their support, apparently, who never fancied him from the off. That was due to his playing days with them when some fans said he only got a game because his Dad was manager. He managed to overcome that though and I reckon he will be a pretty strong character.
Thats 3 games too late then imo, that could have been another 9 points potentially. It must be pretty obvious on the training pitch Sanderson was a stand out player. Hed played over 10 games the previous season in the Championship, so how can he possibly justify picking Flanagan over him?
And all the games Parky never picked him, despite having signed him. Johnson first game was Wigan the day he was appointee so would have been madness to have picked him. After 1 more game he was in. You can criticise him for putting him back on the bench for Willis if you like, but it was only 2 games, and after a flaky performance by Sanderson where he had to ay at LB.
Whilst I agree with Kevin's comments about Wyke, Kyle himself was also a ****ing dogshit centre forward btw
Parkinson was a numpty hes not even worth a comment. I remember watching us play a lunchtime game, i think it was Gillingham and cursing the fact he had Sanderson on the bench and Flanagan on the pitch. Johnson is a bottle job when it comes to picking youth, hes shown that with Younger and Hawkes.
