The thing I find weirdly fascinating with Arnesen is half of the flops were actually the right signings - just for Santini, and nobody else (possibly in the whole of world football) To name one example, Erik Edman was pretty good for us under Santini as he was solid defensively and didn't dare even look at the halfway line let alone cross it, which is what Santini wanted from his FBs - but when Jol wanted FBs who push up to give the team more width, Edman was ill-suited for that and was also lacking in the physical attributes to be used as a CB if push came to shove That's the issue when one manager has an insanely narrow set of attributes they want from players, those attributes don't necessarily fit with whoever was managing before them and likely won't with whoever manages after It's like how the signings for AVB had such universal attributes that Poch was able to work with the core and trim the fat, while Jol needed some players to be replaced PDQ due to Santini's very narrow set of attributes
If things get back to normal in terms of covid, then the debt shouldn't make much impact on our spending. The stadium more than pays for itself, as long as we're allowed to fill it and hold other events there.
Fill the seats and, just as importantly, the bellies of the people sat in them In the back before times, food & drink sales would've put an additional £15m+ in our pocket just off our league fixtures
At least 18 months of new WHL revenue has been lost. As well as the effect on THFC transfer/wage budgets, I wonder how understanding the new WHL creditors are being on this.
Didn't we borrow loads of money from the government at a pretty discount rate for that reason? The finances of other clubs and how it's affected transfer valuations may be important, though. What's a pre-covid £50m player worth now? How are people setting their wage budgets?
I don't think selling currency against a Government trying to manipulate the price is in any way unethical. Capitalism, which is not my preferred economic system, depends on buyers and sellers setting the market price.
Great game thoroughly enjoyed that - delighted for Mike Flynn the Newport manager who has done a great job
Of course, me suggesting the Spurs fanbase is increasingly toxic and irritating to listen to is just my opinion... https://windycoys.com/2021/05/it-was-fun-while-it-lasted/
Oh, FFS. Windy's been around for years and was often a very useful source of information on our youth players when there wasn't much alternative. Very sad to see him getting chased off anything by a bunch of twats.
He's been getting targeted a lot this season, especially by the MouAnon crowd when he made the comment that, even if we won something this season, he'd still have far better memories of the four years under Poch than winning anything under the ubermensch And the thing is he's right, after all does anyone have any sepia-tinted memories of the seasons under Juande Ramos or George Graham, or do they have far better memories of Poch or Redknapp?
