It’s a pity that we couldn’t get rid of the lot, but a dozen or so will do.

Willis is a good player but he’s too injury prone. Hume should get a new deal, the rest of them? Good riddance.

What would worry me is keeping any of those seven mentioned in the banner, in the main they are the reason we are, where we are this morning.
The only struggle I envisage is most of them finding another club at any level, only Wyke has any value whatsoever, and for me that value is transitory..

I believe he will miss the start of next season as his injury will take months yet, he is a player worth the effort though and well done the club for sticking by him. We have had a dreadful run of injuries at the back , our main downfall after Parky ,who was never up to the task.
Hopefully this will be being looked at for future signings, but a lot can go wrong on that front.

Sack everybody today or tomorrow and then we need to get cover in pronto (only 11 weeks until we go again). Could we be held to ransom by clubs trying to eke out extra pennies knowing we need players in.
I can see us only getting 50% of our intended targets and then back ups.
Will still be better than what we have.
The downside for me is we could potentially lose the Hawkes, Youngers, Neils etc as teams could come in for them and LJ obviously doesnt rate them even for this division.

Hume is just as injury prone. He's missed the majority of 2 seasons now. He's be let go if I had the choice.

I don't care how long we've got until next season those who've failed should be let go or sold, its as simple as that. If we're short of numbers so be it. We've some younger players that need a chance anyway. Can use the loan market too (keeper anyone!). Also we're led to believe KS and the recruitment team had 2 lists for going up or staying down. They've likely already had conversations with agents. Time for them to earn their corn and actually do their job to a standard we've not seen at SAFC for many a year. Keeping the current ****show is not an option imo.

You’re probably right tbf. I’d not lose any sleep if any member of this squad was shown the door.

I'd only lose sleep if we're even considering keeping any of these clowns on!

I've maintained my stance and will do until I'm proved wrong otherwise, but the one thing we must do in the Summer is buy players who have the mental strength to play for a club with the stature of Safc.
The teams we play against will always raise their game, our players need to stand up to this and impose themselves on the opposition. If they've better ability that will then come through.

Also we've signed too many injury-prone players who were shown to be liable before we signed them. This needs to stop as a consistent squad set-up is a must with any successful team, whichever level you play at.

The u23s have a huge game tomorrow night and I hope they finish the job. They have done a great job and if they get us into div1 they need a massive pat on the back because it could end up being a massive help in attracting even better talent for that group next year.

Speakman has already said Younger, Neil and Hawkes start next pre-season in the first team squad. I hope all three play brilliantly and get in the first matchday squad, along with Patterson. Based on what I have watched Neil looks a real talent. I know Hawkes got thr goals and Younger played in a position we were short in, but I think Neil could be very good in an attack minded side. Hope they all make it of course.

I am unsure on Hume. He is clearly the best left back we have but I am not sure he is great defensively. Probably an attacking wing back. But his injury record like you say isnt great so if he does move on fair enough. We certainly cant have another season like this for injuries.

Great to hear this, that U23 squad have just the never say die attitude we need to build on, I dont care what they do tomorrow as long as they put on a braver show than the chosen few did second half yesterday, they could hardly be worse. I agree about Dan Neil he looks like a young Stan Anderson to me, if he goes on to become half as good he would do me, he and Embleton will give us quality in the mid field area next season, something we will need, as Grant is the only decent player we have in that position at present, the rest are gash.

I must admit I was against letting Embleton go and said it at the time. Him and Neil would be great to see. I think an enforcer alongside them might be needed but they are both footballers.
