Cannot see us getting him now. Promotion and I deffo think he was ours but he is way better than L1 imo.
Great post mate and can't disagree with any of it. He's massively under the microscope and if he doesn't get off to a flyer next season then it really won't take long for the fans to let him know their thoughts. I obviously hope he succeeds because I want out of this **** league but I have my doubts.
It's a balancing act isn't it. It's not always good to undermine players under contract by immediately replacing them with loan players. Loan players are often brought in as cover, not always to take a first team place.
I remember us doing it previously and some of those wanting Sanderson in this season slating previous regimes for playing loan players ahead of our own! Also complaining about him saying he likes 3 at the back and not playing 3 at the back. He started in the job on the Friday morning and had a game Saturday afternoon. Then either 2 games a week or no club time due to COVID. When does he have the time to work properly on his 3 at the back? It takes time to change a system to your own. He has a full pre season now to get the players he needs for his 3 at the back and implement that system.
If we can bring in a better manager I'm sure the board will consider it. He'd have to fit into the existing set up because that won't be changed. Personally I'm totally against 'character appointments' like SKP, Keane, whoever ... ... we need a long term manager that we stand by, whether that's Johnson or someone else.

But the players let him down. First half they were all over it. Second half they weren’t! 2 golden misses from Wyke. How is that Johnson’s fault? we had enough chances of our own on Wednesday to win that game. We won yesterday. Poor finishing cost us more than Johnson did in the semi final.

I'd love to know what went on at halftime for such a different performance. I can't see Johnson saying "lads the job's done so just kind of dick about and don't bother trying anymore" but what was said? Were they all playing on pure adrenaline and it collectively drained out of them when the whistle blew? Been a problem for ages, totally different performances in each half. Usually it's the first half we're crap in. Something that needs sorting for sure.
