Here’s a thought… with Qatar and KSA now friends could Bein reverse their position and formally endorse the takeover? could the cartel clubs who will be ****ting it decide to push the PL to pass the deal too? It’s not just the PL which could be implicated. Especially as all info will be made public. The press could dine out on the beans that are spilled for years…
I’d like to see him smashed up the back doors by Leroy as he picks the soap up. Well not literally see him..
Yeah so I keep seeing mentioned, what aspect of competition law has been breached here exactly? Have consumers been over charged due to this supposed breach? Who’s tangibly profited from it? Stakeholders in the actual PL business i.e. the clubs, and a trading partner who pays those clubs for the TV rights, having an opinion on whether the Saudi State are fitting stakeholders in the PL given the piracy issue that has cost the broadcaster revenue and would therefore also potentially impact on the value of those rights to the stakeholders moving forwards, is merely those with a direct business interest having an opinion. They’re perfectly entitled to have an opinion, that’s not illegal.
They’ve effectively influenced a decision to not allow a club to compete with the big six. Take Saudi Arabia out of the equation, and replace with Tesla, and take Newcastle and replace with Everton and you’d be foaming at the mouth if you knew Liverpool had influenced a decision to deny (or at least frustrate to the point where the offer was revoked) the acquisition. If the big 6 have made assertions based on BeIn intel, that the Saudi PIF are responsible or complicit with alleged piracy which was allegedly approved by MBS personally, then they’re playing god. I think I’ve said it before on this thread, the PL were tied up in so many knots they had nowhere to turn, they couldn’t say yes or no because they’ve done things outside of their own rules.
I would think the court would decide on what aspects may or may not have been breached. It’s not for me or you to decide particularly as neither of us has access to the evidence being presented. I don’t think the evidence will purely involve having an opinion, Bein for instance lobbied against it, that’s beyond just having an opinion.
The top 6 must be getting twitchy arses now when the state owned City fans come on to the Newcastle Forum to try and argue against competition law.
