I’d say Gerrard was inevitable, don’t think I’ve ever thought he was anything but a top player but as a United fan, there’s a huge, and I mean gargantuan ****ing gulf between a serial winner like Scholes who controlled games, and controlled seasons, and a passionate hot-headed Gerrard who never managed to find that cold, ruthless blood required to get the job done, that Lampard and Scholes had coursing through them season after season.
