I said this a few weeks back. Wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
As the days/weeks pass, it appears that many potential suitors aren’t interested in us, or aren’t right for us.
Daniel knows how much Poch loves the club and fans, so this could actually be part of the “plan” that we don’t think exists.
It took Poch ages to accept a new job, and it’s only a short term deal. - one that I expect he knows could also end much sooner because of PSG’s expectations.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this gathers more pace as of Sunday/Monday. Especially if PSG fail to win the league.

I think Poch is more likely to be thinking along the lines of

‘do I want to work with this guy again?, he didn’t back me before the pandemic excuse, is he backing me this time? Do I want to work with a net spend of £10 million. Plus what I said before I left first still stands, so with that in mind, **** off and delete my number, thanks’

**** knows why Spurs fans think Poch is Mr Tottenham...I mean, surely Harry Kane is Mr Tottenham more? And he’s ****ing off because of the state of the club but a bloke who said something along the lines of ‘when you build a new house, it needs new furniture’ etc etc is going to jump at the chance to re join when we are in a worse state than when he left because the owner hasn’t got the balls to do the job right and proceed with the ‘painful rebuild’

If I was Poch I’d never want to work with Levy again

Not entirely accurate. Ajax activated a clause in his contract to extend it by a year. Same effect, different cause.

Poch was burned out by the time he was sacked and looking back, it's clear to see that things weren't right going back to the summer of 2017, when Levy bought Sissoko. Like most failed marriages, the likelihood of putting it back together successfully is small. If Levy's still his boss, it's a bad idea. People don't change and before long, they'd be back in the old routine.

Plus, Poch had a great team, with very few weaknesses and we won nothing and failed to turn up in the really big games. It's time to move on.

    I've finally settled and voted.

    Weighing everything up...

    - Kane leaving but us not being able to attract marquee signings due to no Euro football, low wages and generally being the laughingstock of world football.
    - The urgent need for us to stop pissing about in the market signing B-list players for A-list prices, instead going after the shrewd purchases that once served us so well.
    - The painful truth that we need to shift at least 12 senior players in one window, which ain't happening post-Covid and in a Euros summer. If we shift half that I'd be pretty satisfied with our work, but that still leaves a critical mass of turd who will need to be polished until we can finally flush.
    - The fact that our work rate and fitness levels have plummeted over 2 years. In so many games this season we have simply been outworked by inferior sides.
    - The atrocious style of football that in all honesty already started taking root in 18/19 long before Poch left.

In light of all the above, I'm joining DH's Hogwarts Express.

Potter it is. And if he can bring Rob Sanchez, Lamptey, Bissouma, Trossard and any of their CB's with him, fantastic.

Nuno's officially leaving Wolves at the end of the season and his odds are now being slashed to join us.

I really hope this doesn't happen. Good manager but not 'right' for us in my opinion.

Agreed. Nuno isn’t a bad coach but so much of Wolves’ recent success has been built off the back of agent relationships. I’m not a massive fan of how he plays football and I’m not sold on his promotion of youth players.

Watch Levy bring him in now as it’s cheap and easy though.

Completely agree, not a fan of his style of play one bit.

I think he's a good manager but I don't think he's pulled up any trees with Wolves either contrary to what some of the media used to say a year or so ago. He's more or less done par for the course by having strong backing and the Mendes involvement.

Yeah you can see it happening. He'll be thinking 'third time lucky with a Portuguese coach'.

That said, I'd take Nuno sooner than I would ten Hag or Allegri, and certainly ahead of Southgate, Martinez and Benitez.

And if he can bring Ruben Neves, Pedro Neto, Coady and Jimenez with him, that'd solve half our problems in one fell swoop.

Between him and Potter, I'd prefer Potter. But Nuno is probably second on my list.

    EDIT:

AcTUaLLy come to think of it, if we take both Potter and Nuno, our new-look combined XI could be:

    Sanchez
    Lamptey Coady White Reguilon
    Ruben Neves Hojbjerg Bissouma
    Pedro Neto Jimenez Son

    That's a bloody good side.

Henceforth, we shall be known as Brightwolves & Hotspur Albion and the club crest will be a cockerel riding a wolf carrying a pride flag.

    Levy, get it done lad.

Just look at his previous jobs. 2 years at Rio Ave, a year at Valencia and a year at Porto. Then 4 at Wolves where he, like you said, probably just about made par given how he was backed and the Mendes stuff.

Genuinely think Potter has a better CV.

Nuno or Potter which one would you like to see get shafted by Levy then?

neither deserve such a fate tbh

Nuno probably has a better CV but that can be deceiving at times as to what a manager can actually bring right now. Probably more than half our fanbase didn't want Jose and he's got the best CV in the business, lol. All in all people's doubts on Jose were probably correct too, albeit I don't blame him for everything that went wrong here that seemingly some of our fanbase does.

I think Potter's CV though is more catered to our current needs.

We need a guy who can rebuild a team and help them progress whilst ideally playing a brand of football you're happy to pay to watch. He's proven he can completely rebuild and change a team with the work he done at Ostersunds, I've said it before but that really doesn't get talked about enough in the football world. He done "ok" with Swansea and with Brighton he's proving that his style of play can be deadly with the right personnel, if he were to take over here, hopefully we could provide that personnel... Though on second thoughts, we probably can't (or won't should I say!) <laugh>

Nuno doesn't fit in with the ethos of Spurs which levy said the other day is something he's looking for with regards to the future direction of the club.

A big fat no from me.

Potter definitely seems the better fit for getting the most out of limited resources, which let’s just face it, is what he’s going to have to do. What I don’t think either Potter or Nuno have is the experience of rebuilding an entire footballing operation though, which is essentially what’s needed, and that’s why I’m so keen on us going after Rangnick to take a director role as well - someone with the experience of running a footballing operation successfully, including revitalising scouting and player recruitment. Plus a bit of international clout and reputation. Potter doesn’t have those but I like him as a coach and I think that’s why the two-man solution works best in this case.

I worry though that Levy will pursue the cheap and easy option. Though I think it must also be painfully aware to him that half-arsing the next few years in terms of how the football side of Spurs is run will only deteriorate an already poisonous situation for him. So I’m not completely devoid of hope that he’ll do his best to get it right.

I’d like Rangnick too, I’ve said I’ve wanted a proper DoF for a while but I think we’re more or less stuck with Hitchen so will just have to accept that.

Levy’s message the other day spoke of losing sight and talk of DNA etc so he’ll have the opportunity to put his money where his mouth is and show the fans he wants get back on track. Pretty much all of us have said it though - this is biggest summer at Spurs. Has to get a lot right and very little wrong.
