This is the problem with loans..arsenal aren't exactly in a strong enough position to just let their best prospects leave. Willock is an arsenal lad, so I'm. Sure he'd rather be there anyway.
Aye looks like Arteta has blocked it. Shame because I honestly don’t think he will get game time there.
Grealish linked with them today. If they sign midfielders of that calibre then the view on Willock may change.
I was aware this would happen when the deal was announced.. If you recall I was delighted when we signed him while plenty mocked the signing, but then I realised we'd not got a deal in place and it was only a few months. We had to hope he just did OK, but he's done too well for us to get lucky
if the takeover falls on its arse our best hope is a season long loan perhaps but I can't imagine it would include an option to buy but as has already been stated, it depends on who they bring in midfielder wise in the summer.
Arteta says he's keeping him, not surprising really. When your team have massively underachieved and you see one of your loanees playing a blinder every week, you hardly likely to let him go.
True: But as the Arsenal fan stated earlier in this thread his type and style of play doesn’t (currently) fit in with Arteta. I suspect Willock can ask for some guarantees of games and potentially a whopping pay rise because he will currently be on low wages. But if we signed him you could probably triple them.
Arteta can say what he wants. This isn't how football works now. He'll have to convince Joe he is gonna play. I don't think he's good enough at this stage for a club like Arsenal, for all they've not been great this season. Willock has had the taste now.
Yeah I think it will so I'm hopeful regardless. The only concern I have is the PL keeping this whole arbitration behind closed doors. Whiffs badly of "we may need to bend a few rules here".
Yeah, I agree with this. As I've said previously, if we don't get European football, his chances of game time are even slimmer and, stylistically, I don't know how he fits into the team. It's a tactical conundrum. On the one hand, he offers unmarked 3rd man runs from midfield and is a considerable goal threat. On the other hand, I don't know if his passing and football IQ on the ball is at the level we need. Also, I wouldn't take too much of what Arteta says at face value. A lot of what he says and how he acts is contradictory. He was asked about potential players leaving this Summer and said that every player who is under contract with us will remain at the club... Which clearly isn't going to happen, when we have a bloated squad as it is. So players will need to leave to trim down our squad size. Every player has a price. If Newcastle, or any other club, offer a sizeable fee, we'll sell.
All this talk about bids, upping prices, game time and transfer strategy. While Bruce convinces Scott Dann to come out of retirement
That’s also assuming Arteta is at the club next season. This one hasn’t been the greatest for your lot.
I read that but TBF he's not going to say yeah no bother we'll let you have him for 5m plus Hendrick. Could be all part of the plan to get the maximum return if the decide to sell. Got to remember Arsenal have ideas way above their current station and by all accounts not much money so it's possible they will look to cash in to buy some spaniard with less talent for 50 million
Frankly, I think he’s very fortunate to still be in a job and I know many Arsenal fans feel the same way. If fans were in the stadium, I think the club would have been forced to sack him. But it’s irrelevant now. The board and ownership have said they’re sticking with him. They seem to have invested a lot of time and resources into him, they seem 100% committed that he’s the right man for the job and, if reports are to be believed, they plan on supporting him in every possible way this Summer. I’ll believe it when I see it... So I expect him to be Arsenal manager at least until Christmas time.
