He’d make a very formidable partnership up front with Ian Henderson at Salford. League Two is great fun

Having now watched the 5 min video with Neville, in the grand scheme of things it feels like a very aggressive move from Kane. He and his team will not be stupid, they will know when this is getting released and they’ll know how it’s going to be perceived. They’ll have gone into this with input about what’s going to be asked and discussed and you’d imagine they’ll have seen the edits before it gets released so I very much doubt they’ll be surprised about the content and the direction of the chat.

Yes, he says he’s not in a rush for anything but you don’t put this message out not knowing the impact it’s going to have. It’s as close as he can get to asking to leave without saying it directly. It’s the equivalent of the conversation you have with your boss just before quitting when you ask for a raise knowing they’ll say no and that your mind is already made up, so you feel you have an extra justification to leave.

Kane is doing his best here to not tarnish his reputation with the Spurs fans while making his message clear. It’s clever, if cynical, and the timing before the end of the season is bad for the club. I still think he’s incredibly misguided if he thinks he holds the cards though, because Levy absolutely has him bang to rights in this case.

    Sly and calculated by Kane.

****ty move and he’s no better than the previous players that wanted out and got slated for it

I don’t agree with that. He hasn’t refused to train or play for us and he hasn’t openly slagged the club off.

It’s frustrating knowing now the realisation he definitely wants out but I don’t see him anywhere near as bad as others.

The timing pisses me off. Wait til the end of the season, the last two games have been massively disrupted with these rumours

I don’t begrudge him wanting to leave but I don’t like this way of trying to appear like Mr Nice but also push for it.

Why doesn’t have just keep it private and tell Levy he wants out.

I think the timing of the release of this is ****ty, and frankly I think he should be having these conversations behind closed doors, not spouting off on record to a TV analyst who as good as works for a rival club. I have no problem with Kane asking Levy to leave the club, but I do have a problem with him making this kind of thing public at a crunch moment of our season.

I wouldn’t even hugely mind them putting this sort of thing out there over the summer but to do it over the last few days when we have key games remaining, in full knowledge of the effects it will have, is a dick move IMO. Not on the level of refusing to train or play, yes, but not great regardless.

Just heard odds on the radio for where he will be next season City are even money and 2nd favourite is us at 6/5 so maybe its not a clear cut as some in the media think.

High profile moves like this never go private though.

The timing isn’t great, I agree with that but I don’t think what he says is anything extraordinarily bad.

I don’t think the bookies have any great insight into this kind of thing. But if you put a gun to my head and forced me to bet, I’d bet on him staying another year and leaving next summer.

It's probably a measure of how hurt and betrayed he feels. That's what comes across most in the interview is his 'candid' tone. Kane never did candid. He only did ambassador. There is every chance he is fuming having pissed years of his career down the drain for the sake of Levy's vanity project.

Seems clear he wants out so I hope it's done quickly.
Another whole summer of utter transfer bollocks, leaving us with 2021s version of Fraiser Campbell would be a disaster.

I ain't surprised he wants out but the timing of it sucks. While I like what he did in a spurs shirt, I couldn't care less whether or not he wins trophies.

We should not be accepting crap player exchanges for him either.

Personally couldn't give a toss about the Leicester game or where we finish.

Looking forward to just under 3 months of not being bored stupid by yet another turgid spurs performance.

He’s gone this summer. He will eventually refuse to play if he’s already doing candid interviews with Gary Neville

I think Kane is manipulating everything in order to secure a transfer. I thought he would be more honourable but maybe things have happened behind the scene with Levy not willing to sell him, hence Kane using the media and getting his brother to drop hints to Sky.

    This never ends well.

We always want to like the people we admire and it's not always possible. I have been a serious Jazz fan all my life, I was brought up with the music. I didn't read about the musicians until I was about 40 and I found two of the sweetest players were complete arseholes as people. I try not to let this knowledge get in the way of the music but it is always there. Here we are with Spurs and up until now all we have seen of Kane is his sublime skills on the field and the usual interviews where almost nothing of importance is ever said. Now we see a different Harry Kane and I tell myself I am not surprised. You don't get to be as good as he is without being self centred and self obsessed how could you? His obsession has taken him to wealth and fame already but he is the real deal and wants to be a clear number one. It's the dilemma of watching elite anything there are always going to be what we politely call focused people. I am not keen to have a beer with him but I will stick to trying to enjoy the football and hopefully with no more ESL tricks that will continue to be Spurs with or without Harry Kane.

I’m not so sure. It’s clear he’s taking a more publicly aggressive stance on this than I thought he would but that’s really going to piss Levy off. The heels will be well and truly dug in.

IF the right bid comes in (and I think it’s a big IF) and Levy says no then I can now see Kane causing some trouble if Levy stonewalls it. It really comes down to City and if they want to go big for Haaland.

Personally I think they’d be mad to pass on Kane but I can see why the lad from Dortmund might be a more attractive option (mainly age) too. City are the only club in the PL who can afford Kane and I don’t think Kane wants the move abroad - and in any case the only other serious league in Europe is La Liga and Spanish big 2 are skint. PSG are the other club who could probably afford him but winning Ligue 1 means **** all unless you’re French or grew up in the country, or have a connection to PSG itself like Poch does as an ex player.

If the right bid isn’t there then I think it gets difficult for Kane. He knows what he’s worth, the Neville video shows that, and can’t reasonably expect us to let him go under market value when he’s got 3 years left on a contract he signed willingly and in good faith.

I think in that situation he’s most likely to give it one more season and get out next summer when his price will be lower due to a year less on contract and the financial situation of the clubs will be healthier, assuming COVID continues to decline. His actions in how he’s approached this situation show he’s concerned with preserving his image as a professional and I don’t think he’ll want to jeopardise that. But I may well be wrong.

I think your right up to a point; he's clearly agitating for a move.
But he's very laid back and level-headed. He's not a sulker who will sit in the stands and refuse to play.
He lacks pace and any great mobility - he's not the modern, dynamic player but a bit of throwback to former times when his attributes were paramount. He's a modern day Shearer.
It's his calmness under pressure, ability to execute what he attempts consistently well and his total professionalism and commitment which make him a stand out player. That's his personality and what makes him a success. He won't turn into a primadonna overnight.
