Genuine question: would we have been better off signing Houssem Aouar a couple of years ago instead of Ndombele?

What's been obvious ever since Dembele and Wanyama both fell to bits at the same time is we don't have a midfielder who can control a game, and while we had high hopes about Ndombele as he has the dribbling of prime Dembele coupled with much better passing, he is lacking in terms of both the defensive side of his game as well as the game management side as he never seems to even try to make percentage plays when it is the best option

I've been saying about Dortmund for a while teams should be wary about players they seem to be not fussed about letting go (i.e, Mkhitaryan, Pulisic) since those fees promptly go into making their team that much stronger, and I wonder if Lyon are probably thinking the same as they got a couple more seasons out of Aouar plus a nice slug of cash to reinvest into their side from us

To be honest I think it’s only PowerSpurs that still thinks the majority of this squad is any good, lol.

Many fans had their chance to use Jose as an excuse for everything that went bad but it was terrible at the end under Poch and it’s been terrible under Mason, only a few wins against poor sides or Wolves who are on holiday made it look like he was having an impact, he really wasn’t/ hasn’t. And that’s not a dig at him, poor guy’s been thrown into a cesspit with zero experience, albeit he hasn’t helped himself by picking his mates. There’s a common denominator here though and it’s the players, whilst Levy obviously had to shoulder some blame for allowing this massive regression and decline to happen.

I’ve never known a Tottenham team to have so much deadwood, even most of the new signings are just ****ing dross and the good ones haven’t been that great either. I think a solid 12+ players need to be binned but we probably won’t manage to even shift half, who on earth will wanna buy them?

Good luck digging yourself out of this mess, Levy. You’re gonna need a massive spade.

I think thats unfair, granted i don't watch you guys too much but chelsea have had those cycles and people are always said to have "downed" tools which i never believe in. I would say most players probably do put the effort in, but sports at a top level, hell even sports at my level you go through phases of being on top of the world and playing out of your skin to playing like **** week after week.

As well as players just getting older and not as good, the team just doesn't have the confidence and swagger anymore. You could argue that if some of the players aren't fit enough then they should be doing extra work outside of a match and looking after their bodies better but i don't think anyone turns out to play bad (save a few players who really are lazy)

We were out fought by a team with nothing to play for and were lucky it was only 2-1 ... we were appallingly bad and have been for most of the season.

We were lucky to beat Fulham away and lucky to draw with them at home.

We were lucky to beat West brom away.

We failed to beat Newcastle home and away and were lucky to draw with them away.

    Brighton outclassed us.

The worst Arsenal team in 25 years played us off the park.

    Leeds out fought us.

When you are out fought by clubs around or below you it reeks of a can't be arsed attitude.

Whilst I agree with the lists of players who should go, it is very hard to see more than 7 at the most actually leaving, so we need to weed out the truly woeful and will have to keep the simply inadequate.

So for me if I had to lose 7 players by choice they would be Doherty, Dier, Sissoko, Aurier, Winks, Ndombele and Sanchez

But the players who will actually leave are more likely to be Kane, Aurier, Bale, Lamela, Sanchez, Vinicius and Sissoko

Selling (or returning those 7) should bring in £200m plus the saving on Bales wage.

I do think that if we could get close to our outlay on Ndombele then he could go to. I certainly don't see either Lo Celso or Ndombele leaving for significantly less than we paid (which means they probably stay)

It's time to hit this regime in the only way that will affect them....stop giving them your money.

I've no confidence in Levy appointing a suitable manager and giving him the tools to achieve success. There will be more second rate 'bargains' that Hitchen will agree to because he's Levy's lapdog.

Only when there's a significant regime change will this **** show improve. Until then, I'm not prepared to give them the steam off my piss.

I mean there's an obvious problem that's pretty obvious to see at the top of the map, isn't there? That's a return to some of the matches late in Poch's time where there was a tiny dot at the top of the map due to the lack of traffic headed Kane's way

Also, Winks and Hojbjerg being in practically the same position on one hand shouldn't be bad, as the same could be said for Hojbjerg and Lo Celso against Wolves, but the obvious difference for that game was there was a lot of interplay between the two and both Dele and Kane, yet today while there's plenty of the ball headed Dele's way that's it - as underlined by the fact Tanganga got the ball up top more than the trio of Hojbjerg, Winks and Dele

However, what this also shows while not showing is that for the first twenty minutes we played like we did against Wolves or Sheff Utd, lots of quick passing and triangles to keep the ball active - yet once Reguilon tonked it into our net we just stopped doing that and various players (WindyCOYS points the finger at Kane, Winks and Dele specifically) kept trying to force long balls and that invited Villa back into it as they grew in confidence while we did the opposite, which is a sentence we'd hoped that we'd heard the last of this season, that's for sure...

Absolutely, I will not be spending another penny on Spurs until ENIC either fack off or show some proper ambition to compete. I suspect I will have a long wait.

I've seen off Scoular and Sugar without absenting myself from a club that I've supported since I was 6...but enough is enough. Levy needs to stand down or be sacked. We're not going to be successful whilst he runs this club, of that I'm certain.

Seems like I am the only one.
I don't actually think the players are any worse than they were three years ago. But we don't play as a team any more and can't keep the required intensity for a whole match. I still think a coach who could work on the players psychology and decision making could get us 10 or more points extra a season.
The difference between success and failure at this level can be very small. Conceding all those last minute goals has cost us greatly. In particular Mourinho completely panicked after the West Ham game and we've looked totally lost since.
I've stayed a loyal supporter when we were relegated and through the Scholar and Sugar years, most of which were much worse than now.

Maureen, furlough, the ESL, Mason 6 days before the Cup final and no sign of a new manager means I feel the same.

But for my daughter starting uni and being desperate to be able to go to some games like her sister did I'd have cancelled ours.
She has had a terrible 4 years with her mental health (being referred to the Maudsley twice, getting no help all last year cos of Covid, anti depressants etc).
She says our going to games at the old WHL, Wembley and New WHL and those memories are precious to her so I ain't taking that away from her.

But this is the type of thing that being a fans gives you (a distraction from crappy life stuff) that the players and clubs do not get.

All of those crap decisions made by the club chip away at something that makes bad days a little less bad.

In my job I am judged on results all the time.
    Are the kids learning?
    Is their mental health improving?
Are they able to control their impulses?
Are they developing their social skills?
    Are they less violent?
    The list is endless.
And it is every week, month and year.
I would be out on my arse if I were **** for 2 years but said I was good in 2018 <laugh>

The same is true of loads of jobs but not apparently the players or Levy.

I can see how this is affecting you mate, but if you were the 4th best performer in 2019, the 6th best in 2020 and the 8th or 9th best in 2021 then as your boss I might put my arm around you and ask if there was anything wrong but it would not be a sacking issue or even close.
