£180 mill or £130 mill plus Sterling or Gabriel Jesus

I really think we need to get a top player as part of the deal in this and believe we can if we try hard enough. It’s the savvy way to get some quality in imo because I don’t believe we are getting that kind of quality for our type of spending if we just take the money and go shopping in the summer.

People still believe anything Romano says?

He's little more than Duncan Castles with a different accent

I thought this too about the CL in particular...if they win it this year then I can bet anyone they won’t retain it...no science to it...just how I believe football works majority of the time and I expect tougher PL challenge for them next season with the likes of Chelsea and United sniffing blood judging from what I have seen of this season.

    Latter I’d imagine.

The whole likelihood he wants out is because he isn’t gonna win anything here nor play in CL next season again so joining a team that can more or less guarantee a trophy or two is his intention. Would be stupid for instance if he left us for Utd just to probably finish below City still.

Agreed. It's something we've never been good at. We'd have been better off taking a couple of Real's players off of them as part of the Bale deal rather than gambling on dross and their best play-maker at the time ending up at Arsenal as a direct consequence.

Problem is, City actually have a surprisingly narrow squad. Aguero and Fernandinho are both out of contract at the end of the season. I don't think they'd let Sterling go and I don't rate Gabriel as highly as I think they would. Laporte is the only player we might have a chance of nabbing and desperately need, but would they include him in a deal?

Probably have a better chance of Ake. Barely had a sniff since joining in the summer. Laporte has lost his place to Stones at the moment but I think he’s still heavily in Pep’s plans and overall he’s better than Stones, despite the Englishman’s form at present.

    But who’s got the money?
I don’t think City have. They are still under investigation for FFP breaches.
No other team represents a guarantee of winning trophies either.
He would make Utd better but wouldn’t solve other weaknesses in the team, which would involve spending even more money to fix. Then Utd might have a realistic chance of a trophy (apart from the EL). But that amount of money isn’t available either.
Of the four foreign teams who could theoretically sign a player of his status, Barcelona don’t have the cash and the other three have a top class centre forward. It’s hard to see any of those players being offloaded to make way for Kane.
I see him staying put because the opportunity to move isn’t there.

I think Kane is the kind of quality that should able us to demand quality back tbh. It really depends on Levy. Personally I don’t think he’s as shrewd as people make out and tends to miss some right sitters...so with that in mind I don’t harbour much hope but a cash plus player swap deal should be the way to do it imo. Laporte would do for me too...we absolute need quality at CB...only lure is London life and regular football...we can match the wages I bet.

Who’s gonna wanna swap City for Spurs?

Probably end up with City’s version of Frazier Campbell - that Delap kid and even then City will put a buy back clause in

True...we will probably end up with cash + Shaun Goater and a gentleman’s agreement that we have got first dibs on Kane when he turns 36.

Levy will think he’s done em like a kipper

So are you all thinking that Kane may leave then this summer ?

I don’t see City giving you anyone decent or if use to you in part-exchange, so Levy will get pure cash.
So it depends on who you buy with the cash and you may need to start buying now - hasn’t Levy got previous for holding out till last second to announce a sale whilst buying the replacements with the expected money.

That's why I said IF it is true.
Never talked about making him out to be public enemy number one either tbf.
However IF he has made it clear he is leaving his timing IS disrespectful.
He could have simply waited until Sunday night, which would have not interfered with our slim EL qualification chances.
That's why (if it is true) his behaviour is as disrespectful to fans as Berbatov, Modric and Co (for me).

Plus I think he’s had a horrid time with injuries this season. Last thing we need is another sick note. No thanks.

I don’t think a swap deal will happen in any case because it’s double the complication of a normal transfer. As has been said, it relies on the other player agreeing to the move. Just can’t see it happening.

I still think that City are the only club who can afford him and who actually have a need for him at the price they’ll need to shell out. I am still of the opinion that there’s a good chance we get one more year out of him, Levy is under no pressure to sell unless Kane takes drastic action.

In the past we’ve held on to players because they’re difficult to replace but with Kane it would be genuinely be worth it. We’ve had a pretty miserable season but are still in touching distance of the top 4 and if we got CL next season with the right manager then we’re in a far better position to rebuild the team than we would be this summer, especially with a season of (hopefully) stadium revenue making our financial situation better.

I know release clauses are far more uncommon in the PL than on the Continent but I think the sensible first option for Levy is to offer Kane a contract replicating the 3 years he has left with a chunky release clause that activates next summer. Whether Kane would accept that I don’t know.

He wouldn't cost less than either of those players. He'd cost significantly more.
Haaland's got a release clause of £60m next season and Mbappe's out of contract.

Have thought and said he's history all season...as have others.
He has clearly decided to go so will go.

Gonna be a car crash of a close season tbh.

Just wish he'd waited til after Sunday to make it public.

They don't seem to want to fork out the cash that it would take, for some reason.
Probably looking to scalp a bunch of other Bundesliga players on Bosmans, as usual.

Most of us on here have been more or less expecting Kane to leave/ ask to leave throughout most of the season. Once it became apparent it was gonna be another poor one it felt inevitable he’d want out.

As to who we buy, with the way we’ve spent in the last 4-5 years I don’t hold much hope we’ll spend any potential Kane money wisely. I’m not even sure who I’d want tbh. We’d need around three players to replace Kane’s impact on the team though I’d imagine; a decent striker, a good playmaker and then just a general decent addition to add goals and assists too. This is outside of the fact we need three new defenders as well.

Again, you’re villainising him based on an IF and a report by Sky that’s been refuted by more reliable sources.

He’s nowhere near as bad the others.

As was the case with Bale, if after the event happens then I will
await the info from true ITKs such as Spurcat as to what really occurred.

Until the above : < Sky Sports understands >
