And he's clearly old enough to realise that there's no appropriate buyer out there in the current climate.

If Kane has trousered an extra 100k a week for three years on the basis that he signed a six year deal then he ought to stick to his side of the bargain.
He will be hard to replace but our performance improved after Bale left despite the claims of wasting the money.

seriously though, would Levy turn down hard cash. I know it wouldn’t be Kane’s true value but it is his current value.
The power used to be in the selling clubs hand, and Levy is master at that, but I think that all the power is with agents and buying clubs who will do anything to tap the player up.

Kane's agent is his brother, so I don't think we've got a massive issue there. We're not dealing with one of the two big twats.
£100m wouldn't come close, in my opinion. It's a derisory offer. You couldn't buy Sancho for that last summer.

I think deep down you know the answer to your own question.

Levy gets a lot of things wrong with footballing decisions but when he's forced into a corner to sell his best player he'll only ever accept the value he wants. Berbatov, Modric and Bale all found that out, Kane will too if a buyer comes in. We'll get whatever Levy wants or Kane stays, and £100m is definitely not what Levy would want.

Everyone apparently thinks that staying in the top 4 is easy too.

I don't think that they'll move for him. Haaland makes more sense and would cost less.

It is. You just have to spend more money on transfers, wages and the manager than everyone else.

Obviously not a club with "ambition" if they are not prepared to
pay what Levy demands in order to get Kane ....

Chelsea dropped out despite doing that.

I agree that Levy was a master of getting best value, but that was before finances got fuxked for everyone that isn’t bankrolled by Oil Nation States or Russian Mafia.

    Erm, no it didn't

This is where both Comolli and Baldini ****ed us with their windfalls: rather than sign a couple of quality additions the former signed one striker to replace the three that had left and pissed £15m up the wall on David Bentley who we didn't even need, while the latter signed an entire midfield to replace a left winger while not moving on any of the other midfielders we had meaning we were paying the likes of Dembele and Sigurdsson to sit on the bench as the new players were bedded in

Haaland has a release clause and his price is £60m next year, but can’t see Dortmund selling both him and Sancho this year.

No, they got outspent by City. Then they somehow ended up in 10th.

Clubs can do everything right and still get blindsided by the unforeseen.
As you've consistently pointed out though, that doesn't mean that we should stop doing the right things.
Levy's made mistakes in recent years and it's costing us now. He needs to go back to what was working.

Barnsley, of all teams, have done what I've been saying for years and what I've praised Swansea for in the past.
They stuck to a consistent vision for the team, brought in players and coaches to fit that vision and have overperformed because of it.
They don't have to rip up the plan and start again every time players or the manager leaves. We can learn from this.

Which is what probably strengthens Levy's position because he still won't budge on valuation, so he knows that probably only one club in the Prem has a viable chance of signing him and that's City, as Chelsea's calls will just be ignored.

I do think Kane wants out but I do also think it's nearly impossible for him to get his wish. Do I think City can muster up £150m or so? Yes. Do I think they will? I'm not so sure.

You think they'll turn down £100m for him now to get £60m next season and take Bayern out of the equation in the process? I doubt it.
He also has an extremely aggressive and arguably greedy agent.

I don’t know about that. Dortmund have said they won’t sell but there will be more big clubs around Europe gunning for Harland than for Kane if the perception is that Harry wants the PL move.

If it’s a case of getting into an auction with Real Madrid, PSG and the usual suspects or just meeting Levy’s astronomical valuation for a proven PL goalscorer of the highest quality then there’s a compelling argument for City just doing the latter.
